Edited by: belzebub1 on 31/12/2003 07:45:37 I am just wondering what everyone else's take is on the lack of missions that increase your faction ratings. After doing about 150 missions I have noticed that their is only 1 mission type that increase's my faction rating with Gallente. The name of the mission is as follows " 'Important' Freelance miner needed " This is the only mission that has ever increased this, Is this the same for everyone else???
Excuse my bad spelling in the title

Important missions are the only ones that increase your faction in any meaninful amount. In fact. 1 important mission is worth 60 to 120 of the non important missions. Count yourself lucky that you even get them. I don't.
I just did another 25 missions for a whole .13 increase in faction. -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |

It would seem, from what people have said, that certain corps are assigned to pull from a certain set of missions (including important missions). It would seem that some corps may only have 1 important mission. Possibly all.
Realistically, there aren't that many missions in the game. The text changes sometimes, but if you use your mission log, it stays the same. Same mission name, same basic layout, etc. It seems exacerbated by corps with limited focus, where the devs decided to focus the missions. So since there's only about 8 trade missions, you just do the same mission over and over again. This is especially annoying, as kill missions are invariably easier, as you only have to go to one spot, kill someone, and come back. Vs half the trade missions which involve flying 5-10 jumps one way, picking something up, flying another 5-10 jumps in the opposite direction, and then flying back if you want to use the same agent (which you basically have to do because that's the only way you could potentially get an important mission, thereby being the only mission worth doing if you're under a level 3 agent)
I of course don't know, since I don't get them ;) -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |

I have had two variations on the freelance miner mission, but effectively it is just get minerals.
I have also had an important kill mission which was to do with mercenaries.

I have just spent 3 days doing missions with my level 2 minmatar agent, I must have done over 100 missions in total with him now. My agent standing is over 7.5, it moves after each mission which is fine. But as you say, faction standings are moving painfully slowly, as the 'important' tasks only come up every 10-15 missions. I dread to think of how many more missions I need to do at this rate to reach a level 3 agent...
The repetition of the missions becomes very clear whan you have to play like this. I consider myself patient, but am getting bored silly right now and might actually have do some of those DIY jobs round the house that have been waiting since I discovered EVE.

hmmm, Ank, it's your corp standing, not faction standing that will give you access to that level 3 agent, I bet you already have access to one if you've done that many missions - - - - - - - 'Fish, chips and a large carton of peas please' - me, at the chippy |

Wraethu has it just about bang on. Papa mentioned before his christmas break that the important missions needed to be tweaked to ensure that which type of corp you were working for (mine - kill - fetch and carry etc.) didn't damage, or overly boost, your chances at getting them.
From my own experience, there's at least two "Important" kill missions, and one courier job. I've had all three of those from Fed Navy, but they don't do an awful lot of mining

check your standings with your agents corp. I think u will find u can get atleast a low lvl 3 agent, if u cannot then u must be very close to getting one

To satisfy any agent's standing requirement you must have your:
1) faction higher than that number 2) NPC corp view of your Corp of at least that number. 3) NPC corp view of you of at least that number.
MIND that ONLY one of these numbers must meet agent's standing requirement (well, there are exceptions to this, my best Roden Shipyard agent I have requires something like 4.60 standing AND corp standing of at least 2.00 to use. No problem as I have 2 other corp members working on Roden effectively giving all my corp mates instant access to L3 roden agents). Once any of these is high enough you can start using agent.
Peace. Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

No idea. I've done many Cadari missions and haven't had a single important one yet. My Caldari faction rating hasn't moved at all.
