Apart from the link trouble, can a mod-lead gone dev get a warning for crossposting?
Seriously, IMO it's not a good idea to have this (open sticky) thread referring to the blog, which in turn point you to the (open sticky) thread in the information portal... Unless you want discussion in 2 places ofc. Am I forced to have any regret? I've become the lie, beautiful and free In my righteous own mind I adore and preach the insanity you gave to me |

The changes are a bit OTT. Especially having any pilot in your alliance available for combat. Dedication is part of the tournament, and you should only have a select few pilots ever allowed in, so they have to dedicate themselves to the tournament, and make sure they are there on time.
Dedication was something our team valued highly.
Having up to 10 allowed may get a bit chaotic.
However, podding is a good idea, evens the field a bit.
I was hoping that all EW would have been removed after the fiasco of the last tournament, where many battles consisted of "X team are damped......end of battle."
Final quessie, is it still scheduled for early June like it says in the tournament-room MOTD?

Quote: ...Furthermore, weÆre thinking of determining the winning score in two ways: you score points by winning the match, and you score points by destroying enemy ships. This means that a team that loses all their ships in a match can earn points and a win, if the team destroys higher point ships on the other side. We are considering a killboard to keep track of the points scored in this manner...
I may be too tired to grasp this, you win but you lose 'cause the other guy fielded fewer ships and destroyed more of yours before getting wasted?
Also the cash prize is bound to be less than any other reward has sold for, why this change?

That seems like an internal issue for the competing alliances, really. If an alliance has 10 pilots and wants to stick with those 10, then they should do that. If an alliance has lots of members with family and work commitments then they're not going to be able to guarantee a list of 10 pilots, because workplaces move people around, and families have emergencies.
An alliance that can rely on a fixed list of pilots has an advantage anyway - those pilots can train together, get to know each other really well and become a really well-oiled machine. Any alliance that can't provide a fixed list of pilots is at a disadvantage already. Disqualifying them completely is excessive.

A cash prize for winning is a very bad idea...
Is creating two unique ships a year too much for CCP to accomplish?
Don't ruin the tournament by becoming cheap...

Don't ruin the tournament by becoming cheap CCP... The prizes should get better not crappier.
You do realize that these unique ships end up going for HUGE amounts, right? That gets rather old.
Now that it is a simple cash prize instead of a ship that just sits around in a hanger, and it is more about principles, I think I can get my heart into competing.
I won't ask questions about parts already stated as being unknown but after reading the 10 team member part, I take it that means all team members would be fighting?
Loosing the rules on ewar doesn't bother me either. IAC can tell you how much their ewar recon team loves my FoFs . They haven't tried to jump me since. Buggers.

might be wise to rename this thread "Alliance Tournament Update" or something of that nature.
