I have heard many diffrent answers, but never one from ccp. Is it or is it not an exploit to steal ships from a POS by bumping them out, and or bounceing an egg out of a ship into the pos shields, and placeing a bookmark in the pos. Then, warping to a planet in line with the pos and warping back into the shields - clicking "board ship" and stealing it.

If unsure, Petition the question for an official answer.
You need to bear in mind that "some guy on the forums said it was OK" isn't considered in most circles a plausible line of defence.
Only a GM can give you a straight and correct answer.

Edited by: sableye on 27/04/2007 11:44:47 if it looks and sounds like an exploit then it most likely is, as said though only petition can answer that for you but I have heard of a few petitons on this subject and they all say differnt things so I guess even they don'nt give you clear cut answer. I should think though personally they all go down as exploit, the one that seems to cause most confusion amongst gm's is bumping ships while in combat.

Edited by: Huitzilopochtli Tlaloc on 27/04/2007 12:10:47 Well its a not how POS's are meant to work it is a unintended game merchanic so should not work so by common sence i would therefore say its its a exploit. (and i certianly wouldent risk doing it)
But for a official responce i recommend a petition to the gm's. - Thanks Hutch. ____

Thanks, I think I will, even if it was not my ship. I will say it was a great experiance being in system when it happened And for proof that it was done I have great pictures, you have to love cloaking devices.

CCP Exploit Problem #1: Many known exploits are left in the game, and are not removed.
CCP Exploit Problem #2: Any usage of an exploit to gain an advantage is only punished if the person exploited against notices it, recognises it as an exploit and then petitions a GM.
CCP Exploit Problem #3: GM's responses to exploitations are to be kept private at all times, thus ensuring that any corruption, inconsistency or failing is kept hidden from the paying public.
CCP Exploit Problem #4: Any known or new exploit is only ever revealed as an exploit to the person who petitions a GM. All other players must rely on second hand information and popular rumours to determine whether a particular action is an exploit or not.
CCP Exploit Problem #5: Not knowing it is an exploit is no defence if you use the exploit. You are supposed to keep yourself informed of all exploits. CCP provide no official means of doing this except for petitioning GMs. As the exploit status of an action may change, each player must repetition each day to ensure that what was an exploit yesterday, is still an exploit today, or vice versa.
CCP Exploit Problem #6: There is no longer any fully accepted reason beyond personal morality to feel as though one should play within the rules of the game as published.

After thinking about it, and uploading a few, here are the links to them. A note: I did not upload or link the "proof" because I do not want to obstruct anything that ccp is doing. When it's over then I will link the rest I would say these give a GREAT feel for what went on though.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that because a GM says it isn't an exploit that it isn't an exploit.
petition the same thing twice and there's a good chance you'll get two different answers. _____________________________________________

The Establishment stole some ships from our POS in e3-sdz few months ago. We wrote petition :
Quote:
Hi.
Our apologies for the late reply.
The ships were bounced outside of the shield, they were not scooped up while inside it. To prevent this we recommend that you use ship maintenance arrays to store your ships. Storing your ships without a maintenance array will always leave them at risk.
This is reply from CCP.
Hence, I`m sorry for your loss, but CCP perfectly allowed it.

Using a BM to grab a ship inside of the POS shield sounds like an exploit.
Bumpng a ship out from the inside is just corptheft, lack of a POS shield password, or whatever. Doesn't sound like an exploit, you're just taking advantage of someone's bad call.
But the BM to grab something from inside a shield you cannot enter, i'd say yes.

I dont think your ship is in any danger of this if you leave it fully inside the pos shield. But if you decide to leave half of your ship outside of the field, somebody's pod will gladly nudge it out and take it on a joyride

Depends on who your GM is. They have **** consistency, and never seem to have any one decision going for everyone. So escalate if you don't like the answer. ----------------

Keep on doing it. Make sure to randomly pick the individuals you do it to. One day, you'll do it to the wrong person. Then you will have an extended downtime named after you. Until then, carry on
