(The following is based on a limited, i.e., handful, sampling size.) As the subject of the thread asks, is exploring even worth the effort nowadays in hi-sec? It appears that the answer is a definitive NO, but I would still like to hear from others. I have twice encountered a Hack 3 site after a couple of hours of scanning, and they have produced nothing but one tuning instrument out of three hacked cans.
So is hi-sec exploration really only for training purposes for those who wish to start in it? As far as I can tell, the ISK/time or effort is simply deplorable. ....

I would say yes, a corp mate has found a nice Omber/Kernite belt / a complex w/ a shed load of ore and some other bits in high sec in the sapce of a few days.
i suppose it depends on what you mean by worth it. his isk/time demands may not be as high as your own.

Gravimetric signatures are what I normally regard last, but I agree with you that they may be the only ones worth locating owing to the fairly valuable ores to be mined. ....

In my experince, no. Even some low sec isn't worth the time. Granted it is something different to do, but as yet have not found anything with exploration isk wise that is better than running missions or low sec mining. -AS |

Actually, gravs are the most valueable stuff you can find in hisec, on average.
Unknowns are very spread (200km from spawn to spawn is common), take a long time, and with luck cover your probe costs in bounty. Expeditions are rare. Expeditions not leading to a dead end at spot 2 or 3 even more. But you have the chance to get decent ores in them, just get the miners in before you despawn the site.
Ladar are simply not there in hisec.
Magnetometric... well, including the salvage from the spawns, you will most likely end up with around 30 t1 salvage items. Depending on luck, those might be 30 smashed triggers. Arch cans are mostly empty. I gave up on hoping to get more than 1mill out of them, too rare. But they are fun and you could hit some sort of jackpot.
Radar. 8 hisec radar sites from base 1 to base 4, got 2 datacores. Two. Overall, not per site.
And now, grav. A major pita to mine because of the deadspace issues, so turning this into a corp action with at least 2 barges and a fast hauler is advised. But from a large Omber/Kernite belt you get around 40mill. Even small ones seldom drop below 10mill. And the odd chance of a jaspet/hemo belt is there. But to empty them in a timely manner, as i said, you need some logistics.
Explore in hisec if you have fun exploring. Don't do it to make ISK.

I only do exploration in high sec as i am quite new, i thought i could get some decent amount from bounties or find something unusual but found this isnt the case, kinda put me off exploration. Loot wouldnt have to be worth money or be particularly good - just unusual giving an advantage that other stuff of the same item would give but taking away from another, like a webber that has a couple of k's extra but uses more cpu - or faction loot (low end like ammo that you could use - faction missiles!!) anyway you'll probably insult me if i gat a reply so... thanks for that i am an idiot!!
