Vagabonds are well known for hit-and-run attacks, but can they be used well in fleet battles?
Can they be used as big interceptors, tackling other ships?
Can they be used on the edges of a battle - picking off interceptors and other small ships?

Rather expensive for a disposable tackler, interdictors perform the role much better at killing off ceptors and bubbling the support and fleet ---

purely skirmish. i'd never bring a vaga to a fleet battle. you'd be popped very fast.

Wrong.
No one calls a vagabond primary in a bigger battle, it's just a bit harder to pay attention to staying out of webrange with more targets.
I have easily racked up 8-10 inty kills in bigger battles (about 50-60 people involved), not to mention a vaga is more than capable of soloing lots of EW (blackbird/celestis) or make it warp out.
You just don't shoot primary, but concentrate on anti-tackler/anti-ew role. Oh and, it takes skill, which obviously most of the naysayers lack ;) Don't take a vaga into a big battle if you don't have a lot of experience with piloting it.

Yep, that's your biggest enemy with the vaga in a bigger battle, not the fleet itself.

I dont fly a vaga but i have been hit by one in fleets on a few occasions, the most sucessful was using ARTIES which actually did a fair bit of damage to me. The other occasions the vaga was speed and autos and was a major annoyance to say the least

Its easy to kill tons of cruisers in your vaga and get away from anything dangerous in fleet fights. Havent been in many 'really big fights' though with the vaga, but I was last in a 60 vs 100+ (we where the 60), and I killed about 5-7 cruisers. I actually found it easier killing BB's / Caracal's / etc then killing tacklers.

I have never tried it, but it should be an excellent tackler (over 8k shields), or anti-support.
Still, I prefer the munin. I love instapopping crows at 150km :)

If your in a fleet battle at extremely close ranges, as in, you are jumping in a fleet that is right on the gate...vaga's are excellent... but at mid to long ranges engagements, having to get in the middle of an enemy fleet that is 60k away from your gang is a death sentence...especially if there are any webs at all...sorta hard to avoid that...

Good vaga pilots can always stay alive. It's just the whole getting good thing which can be expensive. :-D
