Will Eve ever have ship*****pits? I think it would be great addition to roleplay, even if it has not real usage. I would love to sit in my ship while I am travelling accross the galaxy, I think it adds a lot to "realism". I know it isn't usable for combat (or anything else), but neither is walking in stations - and it is still happening (I like it, just used it as an example of non-mandatory feature).
I think it wouldn't be hard to implement it. There is no infulence on game mechanic, basically all they need to do is 3D model of*****pit and option to place camera inside it instead of outside view.

Id love to walk around my ship too, maybe talk to the crew, other fun stuff like that. Maybe when Startrek online comes out CCP will start adding more immersive/atmospheric type stuffs to keep up.

Backstory explains it, you can't walk around your ship because you're not on the bridge, you're in a life-support pod. Its the thing that saves you when your ship explodes.
Getting in and out of your pod requires station services, which is why Ambulation is coming.

This will be the "flavor of the month" "petition" whine when the walk in stations come 
"Ok, so now we can wlak in stations, when can we walk in ships?!?"
I think every ship does have a "bridge"(cockpit) in the model, on the outside that is. And in the minmatar shuttle i think you can see the chair even.
Some day maybe, it looked kinda nice in earth and beoynd, though this would kill the podpilot thingy. What would happen to cameradrones, if you weren't in your pod, you would see inside but if someone attacked...ouch

Well if my pod can reproduce/simulate outside view, I am sure it can also do the c.ockpit view.

That would mean you need an indoors camera drone or watch the stuff from internal security cameras...which would be cool now i think about it

I don't like transparrent*****pits in computer games.
Simply because its unlikely for a combat vehicle to have a trasparrent*****pit instead of a normal*****pit. And why a*****pit on a space vehicle? Why would a space vehicle have a*****pit at all? Only retards like*****pits!*****pits are ugly! And illogical!
Think again,*****pits are evil. There are some*****pits on caldari ships! And that makes Caldari evil too! Down with Caldari*****pitters!

If not a pilot seat position, then a fore and aft view screen would maintain storyline.
Or just throw a lever which tips the pod to an upright position and wheels you down a track to plunk you into the pilotĘs position before the view screen. The pod would need to be transparent for that, and they could throw in a small touch of tiny bubbles in the view to illustrate that one is sitting in goo.
