Edited by: Mad on 30/04/2007 04:28:41 Im confused as HELL about this question: Find exact value for Tan5pi/12 using half angle identity.
I got these formulas of half angel identity, but it just confuses the hell out of me...

Well, the tangent half angle formula is: tan(x/2) = sin(x) / ( 1 + cos(x) )
in your problem, x/2 = 5pi/12, therfor x = 5pi/6, and you can get exact values of sin(5pi/6) and cos(5pi/6) pretty easily.

Grab a calculator and plug in the original question.
tan(5pi/12) = 3.73205
2+√(3) = 3.73205
Looks like you've got it.

Trig confruses me :( sadly its because I only do it when I have midterms or in this case finals coming up... I'm tempted to drop the class since I've pretty much just ****** about the entire time ;P I got 3 more chapters to learn by thursday, can probably do it but only have the option to drop until tomarrow.

Am I the only non-Kwant/Quant NOT able to make out anything about this?
I don't even know how to put in into a calculator, let alone solve it!
