I'm building my way towards... what it is I want... and in doing so I'm levelling up on a lot of skills from 4s to 5s.
The other day my alt got into a raven in the absolute minumum setup you can get. Caldari Battleship 1, Torpedos / Cruise 1, everything basic named tech 1 and way too many power diagnostics and a CPU thingy cos it wouldn't fit.
This coming from a 13.something SP character who has it all in missiles, shields and caldari battleship 4.7 (10 more days til 5!). All missile and engineering skills at 4 or 5, tech 2 medium drones and interfacing 4 etc... dread launchers, gist XL booster, everything else pretty much faction or deadspace. In short " a very good mission running ship".
The difference between first getting in a raven and then being able to pwn with it is massive. And yet I've not really noticed a change. Because the skills only grant 5% this or 10% that, often on the "remaining bit" and not the whole stat, when you go from level 3 to 4, or 4 to 5, you don't really notice anything. Until you go back to the beginning. Then it's scary.

That's why I'm not going to fly my Raven until I have maxed my shield and missile skills.

well, he IS stoned. He either mistyped, or really got into a scorp, and did not realize.
either is equally likely here.

Dozens of skills between the two characters differ by 15-40%. That adds up, especially all the tiertary missle and gunnery skills (sharpshooting or target prediction 4 example)

4's to 5's is what separates ******* up a Thorax before it warps away from killing it. A decent fitting on a ship from a great fitting. Mediocrity from brutality.

Thats the kind of stuff that makes my low skill point character depressed. But it is nice noticing the difference, I remember back when I couldn't kill a faction angel battlecruiser. I spent an hour chasing it around in my rupture but couldn't pump the dps to break its tank :(
