I see screenshot after screenshot with names blanked out. WTF is that all about? Seriously, is this crime watch? Are you worried about a law suit for slander against your character? What gives?
I only see this in Eve and I'm a vet MMO player.

Often the characters posting are alts. The screenshots are from different toons, and they do not want the two linked. So they mark them out.
Similarly, you often see module configs blacked out, solar systems, overview, etc to preserve privacy. It is because all of this can be used to link an alt to a particular alliance, corp or main, and this is considered highly valued info in some quarters.

Eve is one of the few games where intel can possibly be highly valuable.

its bad enough being born out of wedlock, and then having your name changed?
does CCP have no pity?
on another note, i saw someone called Moistened Bint once, which i think is a much more inappropiate name. CCPs Ministry of Truth gave it the OK, and he kept it it seems. |

Moistened Bint is a Monty Python reference.

I know a few people who had there name's petitioned and forced to change even though they weren't offensive, just some people being petty. I have seen some really bad and obviously offensive names and nothing done about it. Not too long ago, they started getting funny on corp names and changed s.a.s until people made such a noise about it, sometime's censorship can go to far, certainly shouldn't be because one bitter person want's to score one on you because they can't ingame

yes it is a reference to Monty Python, but that does not mean its less or more acceptable.
you see, when mummy and daddy decide they want to make children, certain parts of their body become excited and "arroused"... well lets not go any further than that, but I should probably mention that bint is a widely understood term for a certain female sexual organ. |

Wasnt that 4S that got all rebel because their name got changed because it was referring to some terrorist cell wich ended up to be total bull**** in the end and they got their name back.
They did have to drop 1000's of shuttles in jita and get half of their corp temp banned to even get the GMs to do some backround research on it tho.

yeh you are right, it's a context thing. in general an offensive term for a woman, but with moistened as an adjective preceding, it gets extra meaning, i should have said "moistened bint is a widely understood term for a certain female sexual organ".

I'm pretty easy going about the names thing. I don't get offended easily but this one time I came across a 3 month old character, first word was C U Next Time, **ntless baby was the full name. Don't care about the first bit but adding baby was a bit much.

Going back to the original reference, Holy Grail, moistened bint is a reference to the Lady of the Lake so it means wet woman. There is certainly the overtones that it might be her bits that are moist but that is not what it refers to. If we have to censor it because you think it sounds rude then we should censor '*****' (the word you use for rear end) because that really does mean a womans bits in English.
