I have a dual core laptop, and a regular pentium hyperthreaded desktop.
The laptop is better.

Edited by: Caldorous on 02/05/2007 20:36:06 i've got a core 2 duo cpu in the laptop and 3 years old pentium 4 in the big pc, the cpu speed difference from them is 1Ghz (laptop 1.6, pc 2.6) and pcmark05 gives 1000 more points to the laptop's cpu and 200 points more to the laptop's graphic capabilities but eve goes worse (from 30-20 fps to ~12 fps) in the laptop. Can anyone guess why does it happen?
The laptop cpu is dual core and 64-bit while the big pc is 32-bit and it should be single core but winXP detects two logical processors :S -----------------------------

EVE CANNOT use dual core, it is single threaded. hence, the real difference here is the clock speed, but the architecture differences *should* negate that.
have you updated the video drivers on the laptop? they usually come with **** poor drivers for some reason.

That is the hyperthreading technology. It makes Windows think there are 2 logical processors when in reality, there is only one.
