Hi Guys.
In Eve.chat tonight we have planned to run a group mining session aimed at helping you new guys get a bit of cash and some experience of working together.

It's planned to start at 6pm GMT on Monday in the Amane system. So come along and make some cash fast, though with a little hard work.

We could also do with a couple of experienced players to run cover from the local rats, and somebody to haul.

All Ore will be divided equally between all talking part.

Also it would be usefull if GM would make themselves know to keep an eye on things so you new guys know that there'll be no foul play.

Drop me a line either here or in game if you are interested.

This sort of thing can become really complicated, depending on the crew who attend.

Make sure the rules are laid down hard and fast first. Its so much better up front than complaining about it later (and someone will anyway).

things you'll need to cover:

Amount of lasers/drones (do people get paid a percentage based on number of laser/type?)

Haulage, now no offense to anyone... but... can you trust the haulers? I remember when I was in TTI I got ripped off by a hauler who, I think, simply left the game soon after (subscription probably ran out - I hope anyway).

If you can wangle some help from some of the bigger corps, perhaps turn it into a semi-recruitment drive, then you should be able to get some nice reliable haulage. I'm sure one of the big-boys wouldn't mind giving up an indy pilot or two for the chance of recruiting more workers.

I wouldn't expect any help from the GM's, they've said before that if you can't run a player-run event by yourselves then kinda tough.
However, DO inform them where you are going to be mining. Hopefully they can increase processing power on that node

Thanks for the thoughts Lomex. I'm not expecting to many new players to take up the offer of this first group mining night. But even if I just get two or three interested, then hopefully things will spread by word of mouth for future mining nights.
My overall plan was to keep things as simple as possible, and simply split things equally amongst everybody. As I'm aiming this at new players I don't expect uber mining ships, at best something like the odd mining torm, or other race equivalents.
I had in mind running it for upto three hours, with each player taking part getting one equal share for each hour taking part. So somebody there for the full three hours will get three shares, but somebody who comes in for just an hour just gets a single share.
Amane is a level 0.5 system so we only need a couple of frigates running gun cover, and perhaps a single Indy hauling, though that can be changed if needed.
As you mentioned, the real problem is showing players that it is an honest opperation. But I've decided that all I can do is run this, see who turns up, and if they go off happy with the results at the end of the night, then I hope that they will put the word around for future events.

Hi Guys.

Unfortunatly due to real life commitments I won't be on-line monday to run this event.

I'll try to set another mining night up as soon as I can, but that will depend on when I can identify a few hours that I can give over to Eve.

Perhaps you'd like to hold a similar event in the Amarr system. We could use secure cans, I'd gladly join with a mining bs. Perhaps we can recruit some newbies at the end :)

After reading this post I had a revalation.
Internation mining day, it happens once a week. All day people do not shoot eachother, pirates do not pirate, carebears do not whine, and well all mine! non stop 23 hours of mining! Then we all sing songs around a fire as we camp the roidsLaughing
