Our main mission runner likes his Maller for mission running because all those low slots give the maximum versatility in ship config. It can go from mean gun boat to speedy gonzalez to baby indy. All useful mission configs.

If you really wana be diffrent go for the Exequror, i've only seen a dozen of those in the world.
Course you'll have a hard time agents the tougher agent kill missions but hey! Whats life without risk? =P

I'm a big proponent of the Celestis. Not as much cargo as Vexor, but faster base speed and I like the launchers.

Personaly, I like the Omen cruiser. It's a mini-Maller (1 less high and low slot, 1 less gun) with a very respectble cargo bay. It has 30 less cargo than a Vexor, but it's also 20 m/sec faster and has an extra low slot, and it even has a small (300 m3) drone bay if you want to use a few scout drones.
Of course the Vexor CAN hold 4 heavy drones (and a few scouts) so if you like drones that's a better choice. You certainly don't want a level 3 cruiser (unless you are going to work for only military corp agents and only do kill missions) because the level 2 cruisers have much better cargo, and you'll need it.

Exequror. It is the most underrated ship out there. I have one and I can outfit it to easily take down a 'rax. Plus, for agent missions, it has a nice fat cargohold and two launchers that are very nice to have when it comes to kill tasks. Torps rule!

Hey Cao Cao. I think you mean the Celestis (sp?). A once retired pilot, now, once again helping those that fight the good fight. |

the vexor is a very fine ship. Also a celestis is another very nice ship.

Actually I sold my Celestis for a Rupture and I am pretty happy about the trade. The Rupture can be armed the same way but you get an extra slot for smartbomd or personal choice. It is fast and if you seek cargobay with expanders I can take 600 units for the courier missions.

Actually i really like the look of the Celestis, or the Arbitrator for that matter, having difficulty finding either for sale.
A corp mate has an Exequer (sp?) really likes it for mining and agent cargo runs.
Were i trying to stay in race id go back to an Omen or the Arb perhaps, but a corp mate has a Vexor bp, so that kinda settles it.
Though i got no rail guns, guess i`ll have to splash out :(

I suppose the oddball ships are the Celestis, Exequror, Augoror and Arbitrator.
I've had all but the Celestis and these are my thoughts:
Augoror Very frustrating, bad shield/armour/hull and cap with 2 mid slots. I tried to like it but it basically sucked. Could fair better for agent missions but then you need decent cap for travel!
Exequror Kept it for quite a while and liked it, I didn't have many skills at the time though and found cap usage an issue.
Vexor Used as a stop gap before getting the isk together for a Thorax. Very nice ship, great cargo and less mass than any other lvl 2 cruiser bar minmatar(good for mwd performance). I would guess a very good agent ship.
Arbitrator My current agent ship, really like it. Launcher and drones for an offence that doesn't rely on cap and my skills are just getting to the point where a lvl 2 cruiser is fast and useable.
The general problem with the oddball ships is they are all lvl 1 or 2. Unless you're reasonably highly skilled I found them frustrating to use. You just can't make up for the lack of cap/shield/armour and hull. I find lvl 3 cruisers a breath of fresh air after alot of lvl 2 use.

Edited by: Zopha on 02/01/2004 11:03:11 I used an Exequror for a bit aswell, it got a good dusting off when the Thorax got turned into mush by Pirate missiles and waiting for a new one to be built.
At the moment I'm working towards getting a Vexor, its a good all round Galente Crusier, not as expensive as a Thorax either. Very nice drone bay if you've got the skills. On the Amarrian side I'd go for an Omen if I had the skills. Like the Vexor it looks like a very good all round crusier and not too expensive.
Let us know how you get on with the Vexor!

Edited by: Cadman Weyland on 02/01/2004 11:03:23 yeah i gotta say its the price of the Thorax thats putting me off and the fact that everyone has em.
Arbitrator is a cool looking ship, if i can get a corp mate 2 build a Vexor, i may still go looking for an Arb or another Omen, though our corp builds neither

The Osprey is absolutelyl the most underrated cruiser (no one mentioned it here so far)..
But the Exeq is your boat if you ask me. Same as Osprey only that it has a bit less cargo, more drones, more cap, faster and no missiles (Cao Cao will like that)
The Caracal is a very good boat when doing missions also.
If you want to be fast. I would then use a Probe. |

Celestis has a pretty good offense for a level 2 cruiser. It has a unique combination that removes it from the rest of the cruisers.
As a Gallente ship, it's got damage bonus on blasters and rails. It's a very good ship if you want to use 250mm rails, which arguably is the best medium turret weapon out there.
You can put two named H-50 launchers, and whoopee, you can defend yourself with defenders, fight NPCs with heavies or hit other players with cruises and torps.
Then it has a 800m3 drone space. That's good for a mix of heavy and scout drones.
It's got a pretty good CPU---around 325, its actually better than the Thorax or any of the Minmatar and Amarr ships.
Its got four low slots, another advantage over level 2 Caldari and Minmatar cruisers.
It's not a common ship. You're not going to easily see a carbon copy of yourself around.
My conclusion on the Celestis is that it got all the good points of Gallente, Caldari and Minmatar ships, but none of their negatives.

Yep, the Celestis is a fine cruiser IMO.
I like the Vexor too, but the 2 launcher points on the Celestis swing it for me. Good for rats too as you can put 8 med drones in it (though I haven't had to kill anything above 50k so far).
I love it.

i would say get a vexor or omen. arbitrator is a pretty ship, and i had one in the collection once, but unless u can control 8 or 9 drones it will get slaughtered in a fight. its a fire support cruiser when your hunting with your buddies. augoror (or whatever) is a piece of crap, basically a super frigate, bought one, then promply blew it up for insurance. vexor is a good ship, better than omen, but i would say the omen has an advantage in the looks department (it just looks kool). so omen or vexor, both are good rides

I happen to love it's looks. The Vexor is the ugliest Gallente cruiser.
