Just wanted peoples opinions on the matter below. All opinions are welcome just NO flaming.
If you are in a gang with someone and have targets jump into the sector your in and you ask him to come along to help kill them, and he accepts saying that theres no bs involved. Then he turns around half fight and warps in 3 of his buddies and ganks you?
Seems VERY shunned apun to me. I mean it goes head in heals with ransoming. If you want people to pay you need to make them believe your word.

Nope, it's a classic tactic. He talked you into trusting him, you did, and they ganked you. As far as they're concerned, it was a good half-hours work.
Trust nobody, not even your momma or your corpmates.
Edit: not all pirates ransom. Some are after a kilmail, some want your mods, and some just want to hear the "squish" sound. ---
Haha, you can't unread my post! |

You maybe right but that does not the stop the pilot from being lame.I think its a lame tactic for sure.

I was there! Lost my rax, haha.
Yeah it's dishonest, let's face it. I wouldn't do it simply because I'd kill my puny little reputation and that of my corporation.
It's a fair tactic, but lame nevertheless.

So who did the inviting to the gang you or him? Looks like you asked him for help without knowing him. In low sec thats just asking to be killed. Nothing wrong at all with what he did.

No, he was going to 1v1 him, Vexor vs. Vexor.
Deal is; he was in a Dominix and the other guy in a Drake. We were chasing Rekal because we have a little fued with him and we engaged him in the Ennur system. He then called his sparring partner to back him up but his sparring partner called his friends and turned on Rekal instead.
We were with three cruisers vs. his NosDomi. What the hell did he need backup for anyway I wonder?

I think its a fair tactic and no he shouldn't go back three spaces, that would be "Chutes and Ladders". As for my self I would not use that tactic, doesn't mesh with my hunting style. I wouldn't bother with ransoming....i like trophies.

don't get it twisted Captain....it is alot more strange than you think
if you ransom someone and they pay you, you BETTER let them go!!!1 You see the tactic they used was old and low (I have used it myself) but never, I repeat NEVER dishonor a ransom. It is pirate code to honor that word above all. Their tactic is a grey area with pirates but dishonoring a ransom is looked down upon even by pirates.

I am honest if I can, but am not above the old trick if I can get a kill however (gang inviting, can you help me at a belt etc). I wouldnt trick someone in a arranged battle however, mostly becuase I dont fight them. I also honour all ransoms, there are not excatly easy to come by :/

So you're saying that piracy is always honest? Honest piracy, that's an oxymoron. Dishonest piracy might be called a pleonasm.
That's what I wanted to say anyway: Be fooled by a miner, shame on the miner. Be fooled by a pirate - shame on you!

Yep you've learnt the hard way that pirates arent to be trusted. They are exactly like pirates were in RL a hundred years ago and exactly like the modern day ***** heads.
They have no honor. Remember this and start hunting them with HONOUR.

Actually piracy is always perfectly honest - Piracy is somehow, through use of force, getting your isk. As such, any action which results in the pirate getting someone else's isk (either through mods, ransom, whatever) is honest piracy. ------------------------- Sigs are for noobs. |

Funny thing happened to me just now, kinda similar. So i'm rattin in IAC space in my abso, and I come accross a hauler spawn. Now, I really, really dont like IAC, but I kinda want to keep them off my back for a few days, ya know? So, I offer up the mins I found in local, but i was expecting an ambush. Sure enough, in come a tristan and vigil each with 5 fighters on them. Easy to kill, of course, and my slow speed meant the fighters were uselss
Funny thing, I really WAS gonna give them teh lewt. ------ Currently stationed in Iraq, 190 days left to go!
