I think an item like that is needed because 1 year cooldown is such a long time... It should be at around the skill extractor price range. |

Nah, but what really would be the goodestestest for the knoobhhs would be to give them all purple mods and all ships for free and all skillpoints at once so they don't have to wait for 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 seconds to press FONE.
And of course a little money to get them started.
A tiny token amount of 200.000 trillion per hour so all you need to do it press autopilot and the client will just do everything for you.

This isn't gonna really gonna help you catch up. Skill injectors do that better.
Skill injectors kind of make this whole idea moot.

CCP has a paid attribute remap system for China Serenity server. At this stage I see no issue in copying that system.

Specced into perception/willpower you get 2250 SP/hr on a perception/willpower skill.
Specced into something else, you get 1530 SP/hr.
Since the prospective price has been referenced at 1 plex, that means 2 injectors would give you probably between 800k-1m SP (as most of the players who use this will fall in that group).
With a difference of 720 SP/hr that means that over the course of a half year (the typical neural remap schedule divided by 2, since you're buying a re-map) you are looking at:
365 days / 2 remap periods = 162.5 days per period
162.5 days * 24 hours = 4380 hours
7380 hours * 720SP = 3,153,600
Or, for reference, 6-8 injectors.
Which in turn means that a remap would need to cost closer to 4 plex.
If you want to spend 4.5 billion on a remap, give'er. |

I think 2-3 plex is a reasonable price for it.
especially considering some of the less common remaps. drones for example, unless your planning on training for carriers and supers. a drone remap isn't worth going into for a full year. which means either a) having sub-par drones for years until you are ready for carriers. b) blowing a bonus remap on them or c) switching anyways, then training up a bunch of drone skills for a year that you might not ever actually need.
no, it might not be optimal in a lot of cases, but having the option for those who want to take it isn't a bad thing. and hey, its more money in ccp's pocket. |

Ah, but 2-3 plex would buy 4-6 injectors. For someone needing drone skills that would almost certainly be 2-3 million skill points.
Going from a blank toon to having good drone skills (specifically, skipping heavy drones 5 and drone interfacing 5) costs a mere 2.2 million SP. Even if you round it all the way up to 3 million to account for anything I might have missed, you're still getting it "now" (and time is of course at a premium in Eve).
Think about it. You can buy the 3 million skill points, and then spend the remainder of your 12 months training other things. Or you can buy the remap to train faster, over a significantly longer period of time, on a limited subset of skills. The injectors will offer a better return 99 times out of 100, for a newer player.
The only time I could ever see it being valuable is to the people with significant SP already, who are getting dramatically reduced SP from injectors. And for most of those people, 4 plex is trivial, even if it means they go for a month without subbing 4 of their cyno alts.
But also for most of those people, it's pretty easy to queue up 12 months of skills. |
