My First Kill, or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Just Engage!

Most of that is based around making my mission Raven as pimped out as possible. I have not trained my frigate or cruiser skills (except for the support skills that overlap) since I was doing missions in those ships. Today my corporation decided to go out and do some PVP. I have attempted PVP before but only succeeded in losing three Caracals trying to solo PVP or two-man gangs. So, to summarize, I have been running missions for seven months, and I can count on one hand the number of times I have gone to 0.0, and until today I had never gotten a single kill. MY GANG: Merlin, Rifter, Celestis, Caracal, Caracal, Caracal, Vexor. (DANGER: I might have one of these ship types wrong, I am terrible and IDing non-caldari ships and as such I might have misrepresented one of the non-caldari ships. I do however know that I got the ship classes right). We start warping around 0.0 looking for some targets, we sit on a few gates but no one ever comes through and so we keep roaming. After about an hour or so we get tired of the complete lack of targets (Damn north is completely empty except for blues!). At this point we have been either gatecamping or warping through empty systems the whole time. Our closest thing to a fight was a tempest we attempted to engage who managed to MWD away and escape without a shot being fired. We decide to go home. On the way, we stop and sit on a gate to determine who wanted to fly back into empire and who was just going to log in 0.0, not a minute after we stop on the gate a Nighthawk warps in and we engage. We sensor dampen, we warp scramble, we web, we open fire. Did I mention I have never actually gotten a shot off in PVP? I start shaking as his shields drop and he launches his drones. He takes out the Rifter, and the Merlin, and one of the Caracals as his shields drop lower and lower. Eventually his tank ***s (I am talking five or six minutes) and his armour fades much more quickly, and his hull vanishes almost instantly. BOOM my first kill! Most fun I have had since I subbed, I imagine I will be going out into 0.0 much more frequently now... I advise all the other noobs who think they do not have the skills to get out there and kick some ass! I was able to get this kill (admittedly by using blob tactics, but honestly I joined this game to fight battles with LOTS of ships, not just two or three) with very few skills in the ship I used. FIND A PVP CORP AND GET AT IT! Best of luck for the future, just remember that, on occasion, you might lose a ship or three, and then remember that losing ships is a good thing. It teaches you to get back up and hit them harder the next time. I look forward to hearing further tales of derring do and extreme evil. By the way, don't bother ransoming anyone, it's so last year.

Now, I knew I was going to take a lot of flack for the blob style gank, but in all fairness we were not really after him, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Had he logged we would have just scanned him down, he knew his best bet was to try and blast the warp jammer, but he was not able to. And TBH only an idiot jumps into a fight he does not expect to win, numbers give a very large edge.

Don't worry about winning blob style, many pirates out there gatecamp with similar level of firepower. Solo piracy is fun too, mostly when you're starting out. It's tough, but when you take ships down it's a thrill that's for sure. Oh, and stick to cheap ships for a while, you'll lose a few ;) Other than that, i'd look at training for a different race's ships (probably gallente) as most caldari ships are pretty cruddy at pvp.

That's what ships are designed to do, blow up. They're gonna get blown up some time, it's just a matter of time. But solo stuff is hard, I imagine gang fights are easier.

Kill mail heaven! --=-- I turned off "show corp/alliance" because, to be frank, I'm ashamed of them. They'll be turned back on when I'm somewhere more suitable for someone of my talents.
ignisgunner Minmatar Repo Industries	Posted - 2007.05.02 14:44:00 - [15] good job man great first kill, i am around the same sp as u but i got the pvp bug after a couple weeks in the game, started out just doing missions and mining and i had a few freinds in a bigger corp down in stain and they got me to join. One of my buddies and I went a few systems out from agil in like a .4 or so system and found a thorax in a belt i was in a rifter he was in a caracal. We engaged him in the belt i was shaking like a leaf, then a ferox came in and chased us off. My buddie convoed him in loacl and told him it was a mistake that we were hunting pirates. We both had positvie sec status so it was belivable. And he decided to join our gang and warp to us. Well lets just say the rest is history. Basically since then i have spent months traveling eve looking for great pvp. Its a bug you catch it. I feel sorry for care bears and mission runners i really do your missing out on so much. fight die and win trust me you will love it. and sorry to that thorax pilot we were young did not understand the honor of eve which i did learn Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes -Kreul Intentions ([email protected])

Praise me in your sigs and talk about me with your friends.' He's just saying he had fun with an 8-man gang that helped him have his first Player kill in EVE. Don't all start hating him for crap he never claimed to have done or claimed to be. If a guy participates in a marathon, then calls his friends to say he had a good time and got pretty decent results you aren't gonna say 'feck that, you didn't even get first and you didn't even walk backwards'. Or did you all assume he'd kill a nighthawk in his caracal?
