This is a setup i been playing with jus wondering wot surgestions ppl got,
Highs:
7 X Hev Missiles Launcher
Meds:
2 X T2 Large Shield Exstender
2 X T2 Sheild Rechargers
2 X Shield Resistance Amps (Rat Specfic)
Lows:
3 X T2 Shield Power Relay
1 X T2 BCU
Rigs:
3 X Core Defence Field Purger

Caldari
S.P.Q.R

Way overtank, and low dps.
try:
hi: 7 arbalest heavies
med: 3x large extender t2, 3x t2 active hard mission based, for example 2x kin 1x term for guristas
low: shield power relay t2, 1x t2 pds, 2x t2 bcu

I'm lazy so i use omnitank.
Like this:
7x HML II
3x LSE II 2x Invul II 1x EM Passive II
1x PDS II 1x SPR II 2x BCS II
So far had no problems in any Level 4 Mission i got.

I can't get this to fit PG-wise- have ENG V, but no AWU - what skills/implants do you have to fit this?
I end up having to use 2x PDS II

AWU 4 doesn't take long and is kinda ubiquitous in today's fitting 'scene'. Training it shoudl solve your problem.

I think because of the range you need a speed mod to use HAM's which means no passive shield tanking as you need cap.

I also can't fit the extra BCU but it's a nice setup.

3x LSE ll
1x shield recharger ll
2x hardeners or invul field
3/4 shield power relay ll
1/0 power diagnostic system ll (use the PDU ll when have invul field ll fitted)
3x purger rigs
3% shield hp implant
3% shield recharge implant

(from memory, so numbers are likely to be off some)
7 T2 Heavy Missile Launchers
4 mission-specific best possible resistance amplifiers - usually 2 each.
2 T2 LSE
1 BCU, 3 T2 Shield recharger
3 Core defense field purger rigs.
>82% resists
13398 shields regen in appx 204 sec.
Watch your shields, and you're good to go.
I can solo most l4s, but I can't do it fast.

If you don't have advanced weapon upgrades, try this:
7 arbalest heavy missile launchers
2xLSE II 4x rat specific T2 active hardeners
2xSPR II 2xBCS II
3x purger rigs
Switch to XR launchers if you want to be on the cheap. Watch out for the cap, its pretty tight but it should stabilise around peak recharge (switch out an active for a passive if you need) and you'll get through most if not all lvl 4s with mediocre skills

What level of shield rigging should you have before you use the purgers? I'd imagine you'd have a huge sig with 3xLSE and 3xpurgers.

Most things will hit you for full anyway. Your tank wont suffer much as a result of not having that high.

I'm trying a setup with 3 bcu2's to speed things up.
Highs:
7 x t2 heavies
1 x tractor beam
Mids:
2 x lse's
1 x shield recharger
3 x resistance amps
mostly t2 with some named thrown in for fitting
lows:
3 x bcu t2
1 x spr t2
and 3 purger rigs
