An unfortunate if predictable outcome given the current circumstance.

Ms. Kim, tells us however what she thinks, there seems no duplicity in her. She is persistent in her opinions, no matter how mistaken you or I think she is. If in nothing else, I can admire her for that.

That doesn't mean you should. True enough.
But I often find things I can admire about people I dislike. After all, it isn't personal, her dislike for 'us' is plural.

If... it were possible putting 'significant' military assets in civilian population centers in the current climate might well be unwise.

Pieter Tuulinen wrote:I still have not heard back from all 1,000,000 new Citizens. I suspect some of them have no wish to leave Caldari Prime and will probably pretend this whole thing never happened and throw themselves on the mercy of the Federation if it comes to that. Let's hope the Federation will hear their pleas. Pieter, I amGǪ. pleased your efforts are meeting with expectation. I accept as true that you are acting in, what you feel is the best interest of the people whose fates are now your burden.
You will understand then my confusion and unease regarding your quoted statement. I was unaware that roves of Federal Death Squads were roaming the hills and byways of Caldari Prime pursuing wayward Caldari. Or did I misread your insinuation?
Pieter Tuulinen wrote:Miss Juirian's people have started the first 30,000 people away. For the first time since the FIRST time, we have a major exodus of Caldari people out of the Luminaire system and towards the systems of the State - a sad reminder that, apparently, human beings are incapable of sharing something the size of a star-system peaceably. I would remind you, that this is a voluntary evacuation. The framework put in place for theGǪ joint GÇÿoccupationGÇÖ remains in force.
Having said that, any Caldari wishing to leave, for whatever reason, should be able to do so in a safe and organized fashion. Through a former subsidiary, Homeland Property Management, I would like to assure that any Caldari leaving Federal administered zones will be given fair market value for their vacated property. While our former cooperation has ended, I would be willing to expedite such, should you wish.

Pieter Tuulinen wrote: My insinuation is a downright declaration, James. Should the worst happen and the Federation feel the need to abrogate its agreement to the joint management of the planet, it is highly unlikely that State Citizens of any stripe would enjoy the freedoms and opportunities of their Federal brethren - regardless of the amount of time that they have been Federal citizens. Internment camps would be a highly likely consequence. Well, that is why I am fond of you Pieter, youGÇÖre a plain speaker.
Now I know here is where normally folks expect and perhaps I should make a declaration regarding how we all hope that a GÇÿwarGÇÖ and the desolation it brings is avoided. With some nice platitudes about brotherly love and eternal peace thrown in for effect.
Well, I canGÇÖt.
But I can say that should the GÇÿabsoluteGÇÖ eventuality occur and the situation go in 'our' favor, I hope you are wrong and that the Federation would deal with the situation in as humane a manner as such a dire contingency would allow.

Pieter Tuulinen wrote: Absolutely. There have been no official statements to the effect that the Federation intends to re-occupy the Homeworld, at present. That said, should they make such a statement, I'm really not sure they would give me the month or more that shipping these people out would take. Nor would they likely leave me in control of my own facility whilst it happens. Nor would they likely grant my unarmed transports free passage to orbit, or my freighters safe conduct to the border. I understand.
There simply isnGÇÖt any trust left in the well is there.

But yes republics are the collective will of their people, slow to anger, slow to forgive and easy to manipulate.
But I understand the sentiment.
To be honest, I couldn't bare to watch, though I suppose I should have. "The Great Traitor"... for me, it's the screams I remember.
Be well, Pieter.

Pieter.
A discouraging development no doubt to many, but perhaps proper considering.
Caldari Prime is a difficult investment environment. Honestly, I will miss your efforts there tooGǪ stabilize the situation form the Caldari perspective.
I would say I am surprised that you didnGÇÖt offer to sell to me, but seriously, I am sure the city of Arcurio appreciates the space.
In time, I hope you reconsider, Caldari Prime has many charms. When you do I hope, we can talk.
