donno if this is just me or if its something i'm doing wrong
twice now when shooting ships in me phoenix the locking fails to target the ship.
Yesterday i locked a archon then entered siege, lost me lock as normal but then was unable to relock the ship, count down started but kept failing after 10 secs or so.
any ideas?

She / He / It was in siege, so ECM is not a factor.. this has happened a few times to me :\ although I eventually get a lock the locking effect always shows as failing and it takes longer than I would normally expect.

ECM Burst? Or does that only work against targets who have already locked you?

An active siege module is supposed to render the dread imune to EWar. So no, in this specific case, all of the above mentioned things (ECM tagetjam, ECM bursts or damps) SHOULD NOT matter.
A somewhat plausible explanation set could be that: a) EITHER the client (for some reason) fails to send the proper "lock this target" command to the server, b) OR that it sends the "activate siege module" command alongside "lock ships" commands in the same package, then the server mistakenly assumes the "lock targets" command was given server-side prior to "enter siege mode" command (thus breaking the locks), even if (client-side) the command to lock was given after enter siege command. Blame client-server comm lag again, I guess... and/or a poor handling of serialized command timestamps ?
The other (far less plausible) explanation could be that siege module EWar immunity is broken. ___
My money's on version " b) " to be honest. I'd bug report it if I was you (feel free to quote my text here). _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

Could just be down to normal lag. I have moments all the time when I start to locka a target for it to get to 0 then jump right back to full. I've seen all sorts of strange things to do with locking. -----

Both ships fully out of warp? I often get this on my ships, according to speed thingy I'm not in warp, but I cant lock.
Also happens when jumping. Warp drive not active, but cant jump because I'm in warp. Gotta spam the gate with 2-3 jumps.

hes wasn't in warp or anything another phoenix was there and he locked fine as did the carriers (kill mail can be seen on CI killboard - cant link in here i think) i managed to lock a scorp 100k away but kept failing on the archon.
i'll submit a bug report i suppose Once Proud Member Of Stain

that happens all the time....
when u activate the siege mod u need to relook the target....
dunno if this was in the planing of CCP or it s a bug.
But i agree that a dread which is in siege should be immune to EWar. They are scrambelt.. unmovable and has a damn worst tracking..... just able to hit a structure or ships like carrier and greater with an sig radius like a shed gate. They should be EWar resist in siege otherwise u can t defend yourself vs BS.
Why should just Motherships be able to gank everything around. I want a better tracking/exp velocity for Dreadweapons... I think is not that much expected

Siege mode gives a -75% penalty to signature resolution or whatnot that affects your target speed. So you cant just lock it all up before you enter siege and fire away. This is a feature on ALL dreads, including the moros for you phoenix pilots out there.
I just thought you should know. Edits: typo's and stuff. -YOU ARE NOW READING MY SIGNATURE-
