Is this even right? I don't get my ship back when the game kicked off half my gang members, and I'm left alone to tank all the NPCs?
When I was getting bad random disconnects, I put in a complaint to my ISP, just to find out I put my foot in my mouth, because my cable never disconnected.
And before my PC fried from soda (lil brother set his soda on my tower, and tower is too big to fit in desk)I put over 1000 us dollars in my tower alone, it wasn't my system that caused me to disconnect.
Yea, it was only a 120 mil ship, a cerb, I could recover easily, but that isn't the point, it wasn't me screwing up, or my gang, it was the game, and in my eyes that calls for reimburstment. The game should fix there screw ups, in my opinion.
Can I have some community opinions on this? Am I alone on this, or does this happen often?

It dosent happen all the time, usualy it mostly happens around the 4 to 6 hours before downtime.
And no, isn't a virus, my old PC was fine, and now my new one that I have only logged into EVE and visited EVE web site(this one) has had 2 disconnects. Unless EVE has viruses, my PC has no virus

Edited by: Anaalys Fluuterby on 03/05/2007 21:22:40 I was having random disconnects, it actually turned out to be a faulty firewall that would drop connection for some 10 seconds periodically.
No logs, no warnings. I found it just because I was doing large packet pings to another site testing response times and would get timeouts. Never effected "normal" internet use, just games....
I would setup a couple of pings that are repeating (-t switch). One to CCP, one to your ISP's router. See if they time-out. The issue can easily be outside of your AND CCP's control....
PS-Don't trust your ISP as to what is "wrong". The cable provider here thought that 87% reliability and 1372 disconnects in 3 weeks was "normal" when my friend had problems. Plus Cable setups are shared bandwidth, if someone in your area is doing a lot of downloading they can screw up your connections due to overload. <-----------> Keiron: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=427556&page=2

Still isn't my fault, under normal game play I wouldn't of lost anything. Then it is CCP's servers. (note: its CCP'sservers.)
Don't get me wrong, I've lost many ships, lost them to pirates, lost them in missions, and them was my fault. I accepted it. Thats fair game play.

cpp does'nt own all the servers between your connection and there's.

Or the routers, fiber lines, etc.
23 hops from me to EvE right now. With almost double the latency starting at hop 19..... <-----------> Keiron: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=427556&page=2

as to the disconnects on your computer causing crashes causing ship losses
ccp will only reimburse if the logs show there servers were at fault.
how can they distinguish your disconnect with someone logging off? they cant so you dont get ship im afraid.

This is completely not CCP's fault.
If you and your friends were all on the same node and it crashed, you would have all disconnected.
What you are describing is one of CCP's bandwidth providers, or a major router between London and your friends' homes going down.
CCP doesn't own or maintain that connection.
You shouldn't get your stuff back, the NPCs killed you fair and square. If your gangmates suddenly leave the game and you can't handle the situation its tough luck.

I was getting random disconnects and was getting the message "Connection to sever was lost" but later on in the day me and some other corp/alliance members got "the sever node you were using went offline" and i lost my ship...but ccp shafted me with the decision of not reimbursing me and coming up with the asnwer "we do not show anything in our logs"
