Hi, As a new player I have just finished my learning skills and all that period I experimented with classic caldari ships up to battle crusiers and did some forum reading. In this period the most enjoyable thing I experienced was belt ratting in a merlin and warping off as fast as I could when I saw a pirate So as a result I have decided caldari ships just aren't for me. All you can do is warp far away, stop, fire all the missiles you got and warp back I would like to have the feeling of doing things manually really feeling that I am piloting my ship. I would like to have a good dps so now I am thinking to train for minmatar and gallente t2 ships as to take the advantage of my 28 willpower So I would be grateful if any experienced pvpers advice a ship to aim for which could give me that total control feeling and have a good dps from Minmatar and Gallente races. I don't care much about a good tank as long as it is ok. Sorry for the long post. Thanks

To me Matari ships are the funnest to fly. Their BBs are faster and more maneuverable than other races BCs (and even some Caldari cruisers), their BCs fly more like a destroyer for other races. Tough, fast and fun :) You do need to figure out how guns work though, because they are a LOT different than missiles.
The bad thing about Matari ships is that to use them effectively you have to be good at shields, armor tanking, guns, drones, missiles and just about everything They need more focused skill points to work well because their ships require almost everything while most other races only do one or the other. For example you can be pretty effective at the BB level with around 700k in missile skills, but your guns don't start coming to life until you are over 1M in gunnery. PLUS that ship (Typhoon for missions) also needs missile skills, drone skills and armor tanking instead of the shield tanking that most Caldari train. But its a whole lot funner to fly and a lot faster/more maneuverable than a Drake is. <-----------> Keiron: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=427556&page=2
PvE and/or PvP is not something that appeals to the entire player base |

I can fly almost all t1 ships (caldari and gallente industrial are the only ones I can't fly).
I initially went Amarr -> Caldari -> Minmatar -> Gallente.
I fly Amarr and Minmatar T2 ships. I would have to say you really just need to get an idea of what weapons you like to shoot the most in EVE. For me it's pulse lasers and artillery. Caldari ships can be pretty nice in a small gang for pvp but they are awesome for making money. Overall each race has a bunch of good PVP ships. You just have to decide which systems and strategies you like to do more.
Lasers and explosive artillery shells did it for my tastes =P ------

Edited by: Xeist on 04/05/2007 18:33:34 Thanks for all the helpful answers As i see from the responses you experienced players are not settled on one race too But i guess this is how this game works make you hungry for some other race while you are training for one. After considering deeply i think gallente's drones are kind of limiting your gameplay too in a way missiles for caldari. So i think i am going for minmatar it looks like they have the ships which are fast and in a way kind of free Thanks again for the help
By the way i am thinking to go for vagabond

Just remember that minmatar is Eve Hard Mode and you'll probably get bbq'ed by gallente a few times before you learn how to use our speed to your advantage.

Yes Jim, all the aged players are seeming to agree on that minmatar is kind of hard but i am thinking to specialize just on one ship and max out all the skills required for it if i can During my belt ratting in merlin i had to kill some several high bounty faction rats(a big one of them took me 50 mins to kill ) and i liked the feeling of being like a fast bee orbitting close for his turrets to miss So ı would really like to learn and practice high speed fighting even i am gonna get bbqed
