Things were just better. They were certainly "better" for selling regional WTZ bookmark packs. Well they were until the copy limit of 5 came in
The BM situation was stupid, I agree. However, I really liked the feel that 15km warp ins provided. Made the game feel much larger, and really punished people for not fitting speed mods. Those who cannot keep up will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all. |

WTZ is good for server load since WTZ BMs are no longer needed to be stored/retrieved. Bad for mechanics.
At the end of the day, we want the cluster to run well. WTZ is here to stay :/ |

So- the 11,000 people in my coalition all having multiple (15+ per system) bookmarks across Branch has no effect on the server? Everytime You Masterbate, A New-bee (Goon) Gets a Rifter! |

reductio ad absurdum - It's the logical fallacy of extending someone's argument to ridiculous proportions and then criticizing the result.
Obviously it has an effect, however, your 11,000 people would have those BMs either way. Consider that removing 500+ BMs from your 11,000 people + the remaining ~120,000 at the time. And while those numbers are not precise, thats 65 MILLION bookmarks removed from the cluster.
So, while you are thinking locally, You must begin to think globally. |

Very little effect compared what existed before WTZ and the "5 BM copy limit".
You could buy entire regional WTZ bookmark packs for virtually nothing. They were sold on "escrow" hundreds of times a day.
The average player now might have 100 bookmarks, if that. |

There was no way I ever would have been in the beta. I never played an MMO before Eve. Honestly, I never really played any other MMO. Yes, I'm sheltered. I've never had to endure the embarrassment of WoW or whatnot.
I did start in 04 before exodus was released (oh the good old Castor days). That's veteran enough for me. |

I don't have my retail anymore, and my first incarnation got sold years ago but I remember gate bowling, getting blown up laying python mines on the gate in ammamake, stacking mwd's and ab's, caracal's with cruise missiles, and when Fatal of the dread guristas got killed and somehow everyone in eve ended up with parts of his brain in their hangar. Does that count? |

Seeing that box in stores is actually what made me aware of EVE, but puchasing it online seemed like the prudent thing to do because there was no apparent benefit to purchasing a hard copy.
But now I am sad. |

I find it amusing how me comparing the amount of bookmarks in my coalition to the amount in the game pre-WTZ is an irrational arguement, yet the hardware loads of the server CCP had in 2003 and the server they use now isn't.
