In 2001 sequel, a 'pod' lowers down close to the surface of the monolith orbiting Jupiter, and the pod is 'taken'. Hmmm, is it worth a death to go zip out there in a capsule and see if it 'takes' me somewhere? I would have to go find it again, as it seems to drift and only be findable while I am on a mission. Good luck If you're thinking the Black Monolith will take your Pod to Polaris where you can board a CCP God-Mode ship for a guided tour and do some Video taped PvP action with a Dev in an extravagant Obstacle Course,, very doubtful but would be nice. Mainly it's eye candy, breaks up the monotony of seeing the same ole mission site.

Since it seems to be a stable phenomenon I assume that I will have time to skill up on scanners and other investigatory skills so that one day I can make a through examination of the artifact to determine if there is indeed more to be done with it than to just take pictures of it. I would grow my tongue back as well but I have gotten used to freaking out random people by following them around with an intense stare until they turn to complain. I then slowly open my blood filled mouth an let it run down my chin. So far 2 Heart Attacks and one person tried to bolt and slammed into a pillar right behind him. As for How... Nanobots. (They explain pretty much anything.)
