Edited by: cal nereus on 07/05/2007 05:35:29 Hello EVE-O forums,
I've been running into a problem trying to play the videos hosted on this site, and since it isn't an issue with the game itself, I thought it best to ask the question in this particular forum instead of the one below. Basically, whenever I try to play any of the videos from the forums, including the WMV ones, I get the following error message: "The file you are attempting to play has an extension that does not match the file format." Now, I wouldn't mind this so much if it only applied to a few videos, or if changing the file format helped. But it seems to be happening with all the stuff I download from the site, and changing the file format isn't helping. I'm thinking about trying to get more codecs, but I'd rather not resort to that if I don't have to, and I'm not even sure that'll solve this particular problem. Anywho, that's the issue. Any help will be most appreciated.

What are you trying to use to play the videos? They all work fine for me.
Make sure your Windows Media Player is latest version available (older versions should work fine too).
Or try a player like Winamp (free).
There are piles of players out there but those two are simple enough (personally I far prefer Winamp over Media Player but whatever suits you).
I am betting the process of installing a new/up-to-date player might sort your troubles with this. Worth a try.
