Okay... the new patch is alright I wont complain about it. (Well I'll stop for this question)
However since the new patch I am having a hell of a time setting up my Mega.
High
Right now I use 4 425 rails. 2 seige lunchers and 2 blasters for those pesky frigs that like to get in close.
Med
I use 2 Shield harderners 1 med shield booster and a 100mw mwd.
Low
2 stab mods, 3od, and 2nano's.
This seems to be an okay setup. But it doesn't have the same umph it used to.
Can anyone give suggestions regarding what you believe can make the Mega a workhorse again.

If you're rat hunting drop the blasters and go for 6 425's. If rats get close then let some ogres loose. I've heard people say that the megathron benefits from a tracking computer or 2.
Your low slots strike me as odd.

Mega is good at two things:
Looong range and short range.
So make use of it. Use blasters and smartbombs with that mwd for short range.
Use rails and launchers for long range.
I'd say lose the mwd and maybe one hardener and replace blasters with more rails.
Equip cap relays in low instead of damage mods, and use the left lowslots for tracking enhancers. One free medslot could even go to a cap reacharger.
That way you can run them rails forever, tgether with the shieldbooster.
Problem is how you make your prey stay in one place then

pvp = drop the 425's. use blasters and have 2 or 3 sensor dampeners in med slot. (galentee are close range fighters.)

NPC's => 6 425mm, cap relays, power diags, mwd. If they get close...well don't let them
PVP => I'd say blasters. Not sure about sensor dampeners or shield hardeners. Any experience with that Synapse?

When you use sensor dampeners, make sure they are pirate ones, they are considerably better.

Well... there are no sensor damps available in the market anyway (ok I know you mean "named" ones)
On topic though, your low slots kinda suck... go for some cap relays and 1-2 dmg mods.
Unless you want to fight upclose so the OD`s might give you the extra edge on speed you need.
Even then your cap recharge would be awful  for you to last long though, you won`t even be able to fire your weapons after a short amount of time if you had mwd`ed close. -sensor damps are useless in this situation, you need to be within 5-10km to fight well with blasters, can`t get the enemy`s range under that with even 4damps, go for 1-2 tracking comps in the midslots.
Have fun, I know I`m enjoying the mega after the patch.

If youre using hybrids rails or blasters a mid slot tracker like orion or optical (1 or 2)and a damage mod like a mag vortex (or 2) will greatly enhance your damage.
Or just use 3 tachs and 4 heavies like me.
Even so a heat sink, and a optical help tremendously. Plus no ammo, no reloading, WOO HOO!

Hey now... there ARE other ships for NPC hunting than Apocs!
There are also Armageddons.
