Possibly this should be in ships & mods, however you lot are the ones whose brains I want to pick!
OK, lets just say I have had a stroke of good luck and have gotten hold of 2.5 bill ISK, and have decided that I am going to skill up and use a mildly pimped CNR to run missions on easy mode. I need you lot to help me work out what I can afford, and a little advice on where to do it!
Right, so with a budget of 2.5 bill (or thereabouts), I will buy a CNR (1 bill? Is that about right?), a Gist X-Type XL Booster (650 mill), 7 x Arby Cruise (?? No ideaà), 3 x cap recharge rigs (again, no idea on cost. And are T2 versions of these rigs available yet?) and what elseà
Yes thatÆs right, I need you to pimp my Raven! I know there are probably threads giving uber officer/faction gear and so on, but I need to keep within budget. OK, itÆs a fairly generous budget but even so, itÆs a budget none the less!
So, if you can provide a list of kit that I can treat pretty much like a shopping list then I would be most appreciative.
Second question is, using my lurvelly CNR what rats are the easiest ones to run missions against? And where do I find them? And which corps tend to give missions against them?
By my Eve-Mon reckoning I have about 2 months before I can fly my CNR without being totally embarrassed, 3 months to be able to fly it really quite well, so have plenty plenty time to get my standings up to run level 4Æs with whatever corp I need to.
Oh, I plan on being the worst kind of carebear and run my missions in high-sec if that changes any corp/rat advice at all.
Ta!

wrong forum, indeed
and the gist x type is more 1-1.2 bil (same as the cnr) so you wont have much money left for other factionstuff.
but in the 2-3 month you say it will take you to train up skills you should be able to make some more, if you didnt buy the money or got it as a gift.
if you cant have t2/faction stuff i think it might be better to go with a normal raven with more t2/faction (be better ship/isk)
but remember that the ship+modules wont make up for skills (both your character's and your own)

Edited by: Lord WarATron on 09/05/2007 10:41:25 Edited by: Lord WarATron on 09/05/2007 10:39:57 Do this
H: 7 x Dread Guristas/Caldari Navy Cruise, 1 x Tractor M: Gist B-Type XL Booster, Gist Amp, Cap recharger II, 3 Racial t2 Hardners L: 3 PDU II, 2 BCU II
Rigs: 3 x CCC
Costs: 650mil Navy Raven, 1.05bil for cruise Launchers (150mil each), Total spend so far is 1.7bil. Now gist X B-Types sell for 600mil, so thats you spend 2.3bil. Add in 100mil for the rest, thats 2.4bil. Gist Amp for 100mil. = Total 2.5bil
Tanks all lvl4's and runs Gist B-Type Forever if you have both cap skills at lvl4. You need shield compensation skill or a cap skill at lvl5 if you want to run 3 Invurn II's. Of course, I would drop the Gist amp and use a t2 one insted, and use the savings to buy a low grade crystal Epsilon (+5% Shield Boost) --

Ah, my mistake then. I was getting the price of them off this thread http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=516599 which I suppose could be wrong!

Nah was a perfectly legit sale of a cov-ops character that I didn't use. Amarr suck :P

Cheers! Exactly the sort of advice I was after.
Now, my second question (and the one that was probably most suited to this forum...) hasn't been answered yet.
Are there any rats that are easier than others? I know Angels are a PITA, but which ones are easiest? And which corps give combat mission against them? Preferably with relatively high qual lvl 4 agents in safe space.
Cheers!

if u want a fully sustained setup (and trust me, u do) then on top of those 3xccc cap regen rigs u can use 3xbeta reactor cap flux (the one with the 29%) and it should be enough to sustain a gist x-type xl sb and 4 active hardeners, leaving u 2 lowslots for dmg mods and 1 med slot for either sb amp or ab. if u put a cap recharger II in the med slot u could free another lowslots for dmg mod it u dont mind weakening ur tank a little or slowing ur ship.
ofcourse if ur energy skills/shield compensation r not high enough then u might have to stop the shield booster every 10 minutes or somthing for a few sec or turn off 1 hardener if u dont realy need it, in order to keep everything running forever.

Edited by: Zeerover on 09/05/2007 11:56:43 Edited by: Zeerover on 09/05/2007 11:46:37 First for the price setup:
1x Caldari Navy Raven: 750m
7x Arbalest Siege and/or 7x Arbalest Cruise (both cost 5m a piece): 35m 1x Dark Blood Heavy Nos: 100m
1x Pith X-type XL SB: 450m 1x Dread Guristas Invul Field: 300m 2x full sets of Dread Guristas rat specific Harderners: 200m 1x Dark Blood Cap Recharge: 10m 1x PAWNAGE target painter: 1m
1x: Damage Control II: 8m 2x: Dread Guristas Ballistic Control: 350m 2x: Power Diagnostic System II: 25m
3x Capacitor Control Circuit I: 75m
Should come out at 2.3 billion.
If you had a little more money I'd go for t2 rigs (400 mill a piece), preferably 2x Capacitor Control Circruit II, 1x Semiconductor Memory Cell I (as only two t2 rigs will fit and the last needs to be t1).
The dread guristas ballistic system is yo prefer over dread guristas launchers as it gives better bonuses for less isk.

What type of faction are you looking for? Most go with Caldari from the get-go, which is fine, but you'll earn more working for Ammatar and/or Amarr. This is because the loot/salvage is much more valueble for Sansha and Blood Raiders then Guristas (specially the salvage part).
But lets say you start off with Caldari. First thing is to get you a bit upwards. Don't grind Caldari Navy like everybody else, you'll get stuck with a high-sec laggy system. Instead look for Corporate Police Force, as they have some of the best, if not THE best, high-sec combat Caldari Agents (lvl4 q18 in Irjunen 0.5). Use www.eve-Agents.com to look around.
The best way to get standing up there is to run kill missions until you can run lvl4s. Then switch over for a intensive curier mission month, after that is done your Caldari FACTION standing should be above 7.0 and you can then use any and all agents in Caldari corps.

Edited by: Talio ZomB on 09/05/2007 12:53:23 This post is going exactly where I thought.
all these care bears go for the most boring option with their limos.
over tanked with faction XLs
now I can do any lvl 4 of
t2 large and 3 t2 rat specific with some missions wanting me to put on a single large extender in addition to that, and this is on a standard raven.
how many mission now are revised and have more bs than before.
personally my choice on the few cnrs I have had has always been 7t2 siege 3t2 bcs, then tank is an secondary thought.
my standard raven will prolly out dps most ppls cruise spamming cnrs.
torps will very often hit for full on cruisers/bc on missions due to their approach.
I am not suggestnig go light on a t2 tank, but u can get away with gist X-type large booster

Aha! Excellent advice. Amarr it is.

Will do! Again excellent advice. Currently I am soloing level 3's in my ishkur for Gallente Navy people. Which is fine as far as it goes (and I can now in theory use jump clones with gall fed navy, which is amusing...). But the whole "laggy as hell mission runner system" thing is something I was keen to avoid. Will have a good look around the Amarr corps tonight to see what is available.

Never heard about the faction standing thing before! Ace, will look into that :) And unless they fix the courier missions I suppose I'll be able to do them all without needing to train for an indy either....

Edited by: Zeerover on 09/05/2007 14:05:02 Edited by: Zeerover on 09/05/2007 14:02:38 Ammatar is better then Amarr for good agents. One of the best systems is a 0.5 system with high quality agents (of all lvls) that do a 50/50 mix of kill and cuirer and it has never more then 15 ppl in local...so no lag. The system is a dead-end so the curier missions don't take you far and those systems are all 0.6.
The lower the system sec the higher the rewards. A q10 agent in 0.5 is MUCH better then a q20 agent in 1.0.
You should train for the indy, will take you less then a day and under a million isk to have Caldari Industrial lvl3 and a badger mk2 that is able to do all lvl4 curier missions.
Also spend about 20 mill on a Cormorant with 3xtb 5xsalvager, 1x10mn ABII, 2x Small Cap Battery II, 1x Cap Recharger and 1x Expanded Cargohold II. Fly through your mission in the CNR blowing it all up, bookmark each room, turn in the mission and fly out in the Cormorant to loot/salvage. On lvl4s it's alot faster then trying to kill and salvage at the same time.
