This would be great for space exploration because you could assign a crew to grow the endpoint crew in the same manner and then upload the crew members memories and skill into the clean clone mind.
The only hard part is to conduct studies to determine how daily events are stored in the subconscious as well as the conscious part of the brain that would allow for a person to have their identity planted into their clone.
Its coming. |

The only hard part is to conduct studies to determine how daily events are stored in the subconscious as well as the conscious part of the brain that would allow for a person to have their identity planted into their clone. Its coming. Why worry about this? Simply wake them up during the growth period about 4-8 years early and put them into some sort of learning state. Even subconscious learning is possible under those conditions so primary growth rates would simply account for the conditions needed to learn further once fully awake and aware.
Think everything you would learn as a baby/child, motor skills and cognitive functioning and basic math and language, then through high school and university right up to applied theories and PHD level. Just condensed. Why upload specific "people" or personalities when you can just teach an adult clone the task at hand? Let them develop those on their own or simply teach them as we are taught.
It would allow multiple clone groups to go out without need for being alive until the end which makes losses acceptable. Would also allow for artificially controlled growth rates of the clones so as to mature when they arrive. Slowing down long journeys growth rates to almost nothing, think cryo or stasis chambers, set for the journey distance and not simply on a time scale.
The rest would be fully automated by robotic assistance for the flight out, no need for a human crew for the vast portion of the journey.
With enough DNA stores and a genetic 3D printer with available resources on the target planet/area, you could in essence copy anything through a form of genetic/molecular recycling in order to create anything you might need right at the end point.
Have you heard anything I've said?

Touching on that, some scientist think the baby actually gets some part of their psyh from the mom, are these babies going to be missing something?

Looks nothing more than a more advanced incubation device. This would need an extensive research and new technologies to be able to grow a clone from a fertilized egg.

The physiology issues are more an issue of their own genetics and health than "they" are actively giving the baby something. The better quality their own genetics and health the healthier their baby likely is, barring the genetics of the father and the evolutionary dice roll of their combination.

@Nana Skalski the tech is pretty much there, its the ethics thats stopping it from happening atm. Its the same as stem cell research due to the womans eggs being deemed her legal property and protected under human life clauses in courts. Its what meant that stem cells couldnt be legally harvested from women directly, aka donated eggs, due to them being "humans" in the fullest sense which would mean termination after birth, even though lab grown and produced, would amount to murder. This legal loophold created a HUGE snag and they had to go pluripotent and it took a lot longer.
Even animals have much greater protection these days ethically. Look at the great apes getting freedom from research and considered non human persons. So its ironically hard to do the actual research because of its brutality in failure and termination of a now "living" thing. Society today doesnt like that. Think Hitler and Mengels research during WW2. This is horrifying at its brutal nature and treatment of people as "things" and property clauses worse than slavery ever was. It is these issues slowing most of the research. That and funding... always about the cash.

Must be noted that the "womb" works only on the late fetal stage, when the fetus is already formed and just finishes growing with little or no interaction to the womb. At this point the womb is essentially a feeding device that keeps the fetus warm and oxygenized.
If "building a baby" had 100 stages, this would be stage 99 of 100, with stages 1 to 98 made by an actual womb.
The really funny part it's the interaction between the womb and its content as it becomes a complete fetus which just needs to keep on track until being born. And it's funny because we neither know everything that happens, nor know how goes on most of what we know that happens, nor have a clue on how to figure it.
If I had to give a timeframe for a fully functional artificial womb, from zygote to newborn, it would be 100 years based on what we know, and probably 200 once we factor what we don't know that don't know. |

If you deviate from 3.5 billion years of evolution and some quadrillions of generations and iterations eventually arrived at... there are bound to be some unforeseen results.

The only aspects that a developing fetus gets from either parent is their physiology or how they look. Learning and stored memories are not passed on from the mother to the fetus.
Memories such as dreams are developed through each persons senses and until the fetus is born the senses are not used.
Otherwise the fetus would cry inside of the wound because it is scared of something thus proving that it is self aware.
When the baby is born and starts crying it has been woken from its slumber and the mind is shocked until it is made to feel safe again.
Personality is Learned Trait that is developed by each person through education. Most people tend to steer away from education because they are made to fear the truth instead hiding behind hazes of mimicking other people to basically become the person in order to get inside of the person where they are protected from the outside world just like they were when they were a fetus.
I was mistaken. Based on the above sentence the fetus would remember something of a past location through sensory touch as of the womb being safe otherwise they would try to get inside of the head of someone else to escape reality from hoping to occupy that persons body based on their belief.

Nope. Genetic memory is *not* a thing.
Reincarnation doesn't count. That has nothing to do with genetics.
Instincts are not memories either.
