WTF ccp? A couple hundred of us got moved to the wrong system, 44 jumps away from the event. We were sent there by a GM too. You guys made a great game, but your event team seems rather incompetent.

anyway, with lag like this, its not a best demontsration of ccp¦s server capabilities... on a comercial note, iam not sure if i¦d be imperssed by this event if i was an outsider or a potential mmorpg player.
better planning and better information how things should run before the event would be nice next time... imho.

Edited by: Lexandrius Megens on 09/05/2007 19:04:14 This realy sucked big time!
Over 227 locals gathered like instructed on the website and so we join the move channel. There we get instruction by channel admin to type /move-to but nothing happens.
In the meantime some CCP char tellig that we will be moved but nothing happens! I see the lame giga demo going on live stream but we dont get moved... this just sucked! and that demo on giga sucked even more! Laggy as hell
GIGA could better download one of the movies from this forum and play that... those are nicely edited with muzic and they ZOOOM in on ships instead of staying zoomed out all the time...
Poeple waiting for over 2 hours and nothing happens.
REAL LAME ****!

Release the location of the event before it happens (not 15 mins before) if you don't have enough GMs to move all those who are interested in the event.
Also It looked pretty bad on the Giga TV it wasn't a very good showcase for eve and wasn't a good representation of what fleet fights or even capital fights on eve are really like.
Just pretty bad, if you don't want that many players don't make a public announcment :P

Whoever "organized" this event executed poorly. Of course, getting stuck in a session change on jump 10 of 13 to get to the event location just made my experience that much more "immersive" -- if by immersive you mean believe that I am playing on Tranquilagity. If you wanted to show off the DDD, you could have asked us to show up in AFs or such. We also could have staged ships earlier in the week with a little more notice (and a location).
Aurora: please work harder on execution by providing more leadtime and thorough details in announcements. I can't imagine much surprise being spoiled - "pew pew" is still "pew pew" but "session change in progress" and "no more people are being accepted" aren't the exciting kind of surprise that make people clamor to participate in more.
One more botched event tbh.
----- Dang, signatures keep getting smaller and smaller, unless you count the bits where ISD colors outside the lines... |

Anyone record the event? I just missed it. Even if I got online in time, my character was halfway across the galaxy. I absolutely despise having to travel on the test server. You have to wait for the systems to open and the market to open so you can buy a shuttle. /me isn't going to travel halfway across the galaxy in a mining barge.

Edited by: MastaRob on 09/05/2007 19:58:58 As I understand it, the event was organised well in advance with the intention of having it as a VOLT and FREGE fleet action live on TV thing, 20-40 man gangs were the goal, some capitals but mostly BS and smaller class. CCP were informed, and they announced it publicly shortly before the event took place. Way more people showed up than could be properly involved, hence the disorganisation, lag, and general "wtf"?
However, I still had fun - seeing two different races Titans was cool, with one nailing everything outside the station and later being popped itself, yeah that was nice. The fleet action was crazy too :).
Lots of people complaining they were put in the wrong place - sorry to hear that, but if you had all been put in the event, the fleet lag would have been unbearable anyway. C'est la vie. Maybe you should have just organised yourselves into fleets and had some fun?
All in all, definately worth it for me!!!

If it was ment to be a 100man big BS fleet thing then leave it in FD, if it was supposed to be FREGE vs VOLT, then how about you mail us folks and get only frege??
Inviting all of Tranq was always gonne turn out bad and laggy.

I would not get overly concerned about this event.
The original idea was that one of our pilots, requested we sort out a fleet battle for a live german tv show at giga.de. So at the time, I had only informed RONA and FREGE as well as our own pilots.
An extract of his message on the 6th May 2007. "I want to present a small fake fleetbattle on the testserver (at best some fight around 20vs20/30vs30). main aspect is on a nice looking fight, we dont need to make it too serious ;)"
We choose NGM-OK on the testserver as its a close by 0.0 system with seeded market...
And then 120 people show up in Local.
It was not too bad considering, lots of intresting screenshots, and enjoying the random chats. Most of VOLT enjoyed it anyway.
But yeah, if you did not make it, I would not worry too much. Its no ones fault though, as there is not much you can do when you have an unexpected number of pilots show up. Don't flame us, Giga, or CCP for it.
Looking back, possibly this thread did not help: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=517978
I enjoyed it anyway. Its also quite intresting, how so many people in the eve community catch on to the news posts, and how word of mouth spreads so quickly though.

Yeah, the event was fun. Especially when you see allies flying around your outpost in your homesystem in titans!
I frapsed the destruction of the avatar titan. The recording can be found here: Destruction of an Avatar

I enjoyed it despite the lag due to the massive volume of people we got for this, and however cool it was fr us to get numerous Titans I can't help but feel it would have been more of a show had it been kept to a small scale engagement as originally intended.

Not get mad about this? F*ck that. We're told to show up on singularity for a fun battle, and I end up getting sent to the wrong system 44 jumps away along with a bunch of other people with nothing to do but sit around. No one even told us we werent gonna be involved in the event, we were just put in a system. Where I waited on ccp to do something about it, which they never did. Congrats on the event
