Being someone who never got to exploit the daily downtime for trade, I find trading now worthwhile when I can't give the game my complete attention. I can make 400k+ a run without too much trouble. It's not alot, but it's better than doing agent missions or hunting rats for solo work. |

I dabbled in trading for a bit pre patch, and I haven't really given it much look at it after castor.
What I didn't really care for was that buy putting in maybe 3hrs in a week one can corner a profitable rout for a week or two, by just leaving standing orders. Seems way too easy to me.
I would like to see routes get more and less profitable as more and less people use it, and its not working as it should right now.
But instead of playing purely off NPC goods, why don't people look at trading Player made goods? It takes alot more research into pricing and finding places that don't have a demand but I'm fairly sure that alot could make some money.
Or trade minerals, find somone selling mex at 11 buy it and sell it to someone buying it at 16. 5profit for a mineral that takes up .01 space in your cargo hold. Even more so for some of the other minerals.

For those interested i got this reply to an e-mail i sent on the subject..
Hi,
I'm afraid that it won't be coming back. The whole market is becoming more and more player run and I don't think the npc demand will be raised again. Many of commodities will be needed in the production of tech lvl 2 items which should increase the demand somewhat. Other than that I don't see any changes coming concerning the commodities. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us again. We'll do all we can to help.
Best regards, [GM]

Have any of you tried the PC market? That is mostly selling ships equipment to players.
Also btw some loons are byuing isogen in syndicate at 80, very risky to go there of course with the all the pirates.
It takes some time to get going but it is worth it in the long run I think.
I agree that trade goods isnt very interesting any more but on the other hand I never it was profitable trading it after I found out that minerals are a much better trading goods.
Problem is of course that the trade goods is of little interest to yhe players themselves. It cant be used for anything. If it could be I imagine the slave trade would be very interesting for Amarr pilots (Who would probably own large amount of shares in slave farms if that was possible).
Im begginning to talk crap now, better end now. The Irrational is never wrong!! |

There are some thousand inhabitat planets in the EVEvers, each with a couple of billion people (or so I guess). That makes some trillion people. All of them still hunt for their own food and brew there own Quafe. Only the .0% of spacfaring people do indeed purchase any kind of goods. There are pro's and con's to a purely player run market, but I find thsi notion - well - amusing.
