Since we can now see just what implants and hardwiring upgrades were lost on a pod mail, would it not be a good idea to actually harvest those implants from the corpse?
Skill required: Science - Clone Autopsy
Each level of training allows the possible retrieval of one Implant or Hardwiring, to a maximum of five from one corpse. 10% bonus per level to the probability of successfully removing an implant or hardwiring without destroying it.
You would need to scoop the corpse and take it to a station with medical facilities to perform the operation.

Oh hey, this idea is so original....not! Alex, can I have forum search for newbies please?
Second, no it is fine as currently. Because implants are an isk sink. Doesn't matter if you buy them yourself (isk disseappers to NPC), buy them from the market (taxes take a little bit of isk), or they are not replacable like a module (plug it in, sometime in the future its going to be destroyed if you get podded or want to put something else in that same slot while keeping the rest of your set). |

No. Would cause the price of them to crash and lead to even more random dual ganks in hisec. |

Not coherent with story anyway. When you die, your brain gets a jolt to scan it and retreive the memory for the next clone. This jolt completely destroys your brain and since implants are in there, they get litterally fried. |

No.
New players fly in cheap ships, but their implants can be valuable. And players who know the value of jump clone will not pvp with expensive implants so your point is moot. |

Third or forth time I've seen this idea mentioned this year.
CCP had mentioned this possibility. The method would be mortuary ships. The clones would have to be fresh. It was chance based, but that includes the chance to get bookmarks too. This was mentioned years ago and nothing has been mentioned by CCP since. The idea is likely shelved indefinitely.
The problem is that implants are a significant ISK/LP sink in the game. Right now, there are not enough of those. As such, it currently is a bad idea. |

To you, no. Implants are not an isk sink. NPCs are not the only place to get implants, I've sold many an implant on the market, and the isk went to me, not some NPC. The idea that isk is lost through taxes is like saying that I killed a guy by giving him a papercut. As for the idea, others may have had the idea, but this is the first time that it has been laid out in such a way as to give a solid idea of how it would work. So please, try to give criticsim that is more constructive or just sit in the corner and sulk.
As for the OP, I came into this thread ready to say no, but you have presented the idea in such a clear and concise manner that I cannot help but like the idea now. Even if they do not implement such a thing, I give you kudos for elaborating and explaining on how it would work. +1 for creative thinking and presentation! If you bring down a giant, you're a hero. If you kill something weak-even if it has to die-then you will endure contempt. |
