I went Caldari Race, but now everywhere I read that Caldari ship is bad for small pvp. So which ship should I learn then? Gallene or Minmatar, which one is better? I like how Minmatar looks better, but if Gallente is better then Ill train that.
Which skills do I need other than ship skills them selfs to fly ether one of those races effectivly.
Also what about Amarr? Noone mentions them ever. Are they any good? Their ships look cool as ****, bbut do they suck or what?

Gallente are designed with Microwarpdrive, Drones and Blasters in mind. So you fight at point black and hope to out-gank your enemy. And because most of the non-Fleet PvP is in Scramble range, Gallente come out on top if fighting against Amarr or Caldari, which dont use MWDs that often. But if you add more and more Numbers, you start to realize that needing to cross distance to gank someone, while he and his buddies can blast away with way higher optimal range, gets you killed.
Minmatar is also a "microwarpdrive" race, but they try to stay out of web range because their tanks are poor. They can try to get away if they are loosing. That makes them fun for some players.
Amarr. Whats that? Is there an hidden race beside Gallente and Minmatar for PvP and Caldari for PvE?

sigh. don't you ever think that if there was an answer to ur question and in fact one race was better, don't u reckon that every single person would train that race?
every race has it's advantages and disadvantages. caldari have some amazing small pvp ships as do all the other races. it really depends on your style of fighting. do you see yourself as a long range ewar expert. a close range high dmg wtfpwn kinda pilot. a skillfull fast moving hit and run specialist. these are generalisations of the races but it's that kinda thing you should be thinking of.

Gallente are better at the following:
- PVE - Close range combat (in-your-face tactics) - Drones - Damage
Minmatar are better at the following:
- Speed - Flexibility of damage types - General coolness
Amarr...yeah, let's not talk about them...
Both, Gallente and Minmatar, are a LOT of fun to fly compared to Caldari. If you are not a speed-freak, go for Gallente since they do more damage and have drones. If you mostly want to roam solo or in small gangs, go Minmatar since you won't die as often due to your speed _______________

1. Minmatar is much better in the long run, they require a lot of skills but in the end they are worth it. Faster, do every damage type, and t2 auto's with t2 ammo on a wolf is MEAN. (Small autocannons that hit outside of webber range.) The Jag is simply amazing for a solo ship. Any and all gun skills, if they exist train them. Nav V, Mechanic V, Engineering V, you know the basics. I've seen some MEAN Amarr assault frigates, but they too are very skill heavy. If you want easy, go gallente and caldari, if you want awesomeo but not right off the bat, go minmatar and amarr.
And minmatar have a tank, it's just more duct tape then most prefer.

I thought Caldari is the best race for pilot and pvp? No? They have highest Intellegence and Perception and Willpower, I thought thats the stuff that makes you good?
I obviously dont know much about pvp or the game in general, im still playing the free accnt, but dont you have to be close for pvp so you can scramble and webbify the enemy? If you dont do those things wouldnt your enemy just warp away if he thinks he is loosing?

You're making the mistake that all of us made when we started the game and that is confusing your character with the ships you train for. Yes, Caldari Achura throw out the best attribute combinations for PvP, however they do not HAVE to train Caldari skills. It does kind of makes sense to do so because you start with some Caldari-specific skills, but if you intend to play for a long time, it won't make much difference several months down the line - i.e. a few hundred SP out of place is no biggy).

Yes *someone* needs to tackle (scramble and, usually, web) and if you're roaming solo that'd have to be you ) .

Well Minmatards are slaves and Gallentes are frenchies... tough choice.
They're about even TBH. Just depends on whether you like up-close uber damage and tanking, or speed and survivability.

caldari is not that bad in small PvP, and they have some solutions not available to other races... they are not that good in solo but if you have some comrades they have nice ships that can fit in different roles...
between gall and minnies i think gal will be better, minnies are a bit lacky in bigger ships on the other hand gallente have extremely good ship at all sizes

A Machariel is a ship used by the Angel Cartel, the npc pirates mostly found in minmatar space. It requires both Gallente Battleship III and Minmatar Battleship III just to be allowed to undock in it, let alone put proper weapons and other equipment on, so it's something to keep dreaming about for the next year while you fly the smaller stuff. If you want to check it out, type the word Machariel in a chat window ingame (don't press enter), then highlight the word with your mouse, right-click and select auto link -> item type. This will turn the word into a link you can use to show yourself, or others, what the ship looks like.
To get back to your original question, Minmatar and Gallente actually make quite a good combination to train. Drones, although primarily a Gallente weapon, are still used by all the other races. Most ships have a drone bay, and to neglect the possibilities that offers is to sell your ship short. There are also cases where you might want to use Minmatar weapons on a Gallente ship. A ship such as the Myrmidon that doesn't have any specific weapon bonuses is a good example of this. And yes, the Angel ships do kick some serious ass. Speaking of which, want to buy my Daredevil?

Minmatar are fotm right now, but I would go Gallente first. They have fantastic ships and if you are operating in smaller groups, the Brutix/Myrmidon BCs are simply outstanding. The Throax/Vexor make for very good tackler dpsers for cruisers, and the Celestis is a great ECM ship to train in.
The problem with minmatar is that you really need to train for spacific ships. Some shield tank, some armor tank, and their wepons systems require that you understand game mechanics to a certain degree. They are also very easy to kill if piloted wrong, and their setups leave very little room for error.
This is not to say that Minmatar are better then Gallente or vice versa, they are different. But I cannot honestly recomend minmatar as your first race.
On Caldari - people will bash it, but I have seen what a good Caracal setup can do, at range, in a good group. I have seen what a well fitted crow can do to a good sized fleet, and I have seen what the Drake can do while tanking sentries. They can't tackle, but they have good dps and fantastic tanks. Problem is, you need to train certain skills up to be good, but you don't need those skills to fly the ship. This leads to people with poor skills reprisenting the ships they fly: giving them a bad name.
Caldari are good in pvp, so are Amarr. Its just people trying to fly them all the same that makes them poor. Fly the caldari and amarr ships the way they were meant to and you will see a lot people backing away from idiotic statements.
All the races are good, they all have strong and weak points - but if your choise is between Gallente and Minmatar, I would say stick to Gallente untill you have all your support skills trained really high, your armor skills done, your drone and gunnery all trained up - and after you are done with your fully T2 mega/domi, your CSs and your recons. . . then step back and ask yourself what to do next. Untill then, speciize.

That's exactly what you should do. What do you like ?
I personnaly love the minmatar way of fight extremely versatile (not as rigid as gallente doctrine). But it take more time to train minnie (to make their ships efficient) than gallentes but it definately worth it in the long run.
Whatever you choose don't make the mistake of training 2 races .

Caldari just aren't king at solo PVP. If Caldari ships are set up properly by an intelligent pilot to work with the gang he/she is in, they are brutally effective.
Minmatar and Gallente are both awsome. Minmatar definitely has a "cool" feel to it. I fly both because I enjoy both. However, at present I am more heavily skilled in Gallente. That does not deter me from wanting to spend several months skilling into Minmatar though.
Quote: Gallente are better at the following: - PVE
Gallente may be better than Minmatar at PVE, but that's not saying much. Gal still sucks at PVE. Many missions are simply undoable in a dominix, they require a Megahtron - and a Megathron is quite inefficient. For PVE, fly Caldari. Period.
Quote: Whatever you choose don't make the mistake of training 2 races .
This isn't a mistake when you get older (1.5-2 years or so?) and have support skills that can help out with more than one type of weapon system/ship/etc. It can be detrimental when you are younger. Nonetheless, having FUN is what is most important. If "fun" to you is being able to fly all the types of AFs, well, go for it. It's your subscription! Have fun!

Mistake? lol! Best move of my career!
I can run around 0.0 in a Pilgrim/Curse with T2 drones, T2/faction tank, and use well skilled tracking disruptors...if I want to solo in an all out combat ship I can fly Gallente.
I can play multiple roles in a gang. I could go Gallente and be a heavy heavy tackler with a Megathron or a Domi with T2 blasters/drones if we're camping a gate or something. If we need to be more mobile I can jump into a Myrm or a Tix. If my gang has plenty of DPS and tacklers already I can jump into a Celestis or Blackbird and jam the snot out of people with T2 Damps or T2 ECM.
I can run my missions or NPC as Caldari with either a Drake or a Raven. In fact because I have T2 armor and shield tanking skills once I get around to training minmatar all I'll need to train are the ships, put more SP into my already T2 speed skills, and train projectiles to T2.
Oh, and to top it all off when we need to resupply a POS I jump into an Itty V.
Do not be afraid to branch out, just make sure you put enough SP into each ship/race to be good at them.
BTW I have 17mil SP and only a few months over a year of playing, so its not like you need 2-3 years under your belt to do this. Although a +3/+4 implant set helps. Try to avoid being podded!

Gotta agree with DarkElf, in fact he mentioned just about all the ships that I would have. Let me mention one more: A T2 Cruise/Torp raven with 3x BCU IIs+T2 med drones. Doesn't have to MWD into range like a Gankathron, but still puts out pretty insane DPS once you take into account it doesn't suffer from tracking like guns do. Add a second and you'll be going BAM there goes their shield...BAM there goes their armor. *pop*
Oh, and Scorps are great too, imagine a Blackbird that can actually take a hit or two but is twice as effective...yeah.

People who can't figure out how to use Caldari in PVP either: - Need to learn how to play to the advantages of their training just like everyone else (or) - Need to learn from their corpmates (quit listening to the ones that whine all the time, and listen to the ones that are out there getting the job done)

I don't see why caldari are bad for small group pvp. Passive tanked drakes, even with no ewar are great in small group fights if you have a dedicated tackler. Especially if you can get your opponents to waste alot of time trying to break your tank.
