i am having a major problem and ccp knows about it but has i guess made no effort to fix it. my hud shows full shields and full cap all the time...even if they are empty. i have lost 2 ships to this problem and the gm's (of course) are giving me the run around about replacing them. i have petitioned this problem as it has made it impossible for me to play the game. i received a response from 1 gm telling me to sync my system clock with the game clock. im wondering if anyone has a way to keep the system clock and game clock sync'd?

i forgot to add that i keep my computer sync'd with world wide time servers which are no more than 2-3 seconds different and my sync is never more than 3-5 seconds change. the problem is with eve time on my client. i log on to eve and the client time is equal to my system time but as i play the eve client time slowly increases while my system time stays the same and is sync'd every 5 mins. anyone have any ideas...ccp maybe has a clue?

ok ppl...assuming the gm was right when he told me to sync my game clock with my system clock and that would fix the problem. i have narrowed it down to the client gaining time while logged on. when i log on the time is sync'd with my system but while my eve client is connected the time in bottom left gains time quickly. i have been logged on for about 30mins and i have gained 5 mins of time compared to my system time which is sync'd every 5 mins with world wide time servers so i know its right. i cant keep changing my system time to match eve time every 2 or 3 mins just to make the client work like it should in the first place. i do have to say that about 2 or 3 patches ago everything started working perfect. then after the next patch this started again.
any suggestions?...gms? ccp? anyone?

The time-of-day clock sync'ing idea is pure bull****. Someones idea of an april fools joke I figure.
Your problem is most likely internet packet loss creating a loss-of-sync between the server's simulator and your own client's local simulator which inturn starts to get it's modelling confused.
It's a very old bug but only affects those who are experiencing packet loss. I'll make the assumption you live on the east coast of USA. That area of the world appears to have had ongoing connection problems with CCP's ISP.

I have been having the same problem with my HUD, and I live on the east coast of the U.S.
Also, I am having a problem with the client figuring out exactly where my ship is located. Every time I warp somewhere the client can't make up its mind about where to put my ship when it comes out of warp, and the overview window is giving me incorrect distance information about whats around me. This makes it very hard to do missions.
Is there any kind of solution to this problem? |

well...i live in the middle of the us and i test my net all the time and never find any packet loss, although it could be just packet loss from me directly to ccp's server net. i do have the same problem with the client not having a clue about where my ship is in space. ccp suggested the clock sync thing and it will temp fix the problem if you keep the clocks perfectly sync'd by changing my system time to match the client time on a sec by sec basis. but i still dont understand why my client clock in bottom left gains time very fast while im logged on. i think this is what ccp knows is messed up and cant/wont fix. they need to go back a couple of patches ago and see what they messed up when they had it fixed for about a week or 2 before they patched again.

Good. Test against the website http://www.eve-online.com/ , it will show the same behaviour being part of the same cluster.

That's the time on Tranquility, you don't have control of it.
To give you an idea of how far out of sync with the correct time of day Tranquility is - post a message on the forums then immeditately edit it. You will see the edited datestamp is a few minutes earlier than the original posting.
The edit datestamp will be from Tranquility, while the original one will be from elsewhere.
Datestamping is not important for the client though. It will be used for the database management with-in the cluster but that's all.
