Hi there,
I dunno if someone else already had this idea (which is most possible..) but how about turning modules on and off while flying in space?
As example I would say something like this: You want go hunting rats (ok, this isn't so easy nowadays ) in deep space or even in end-systems there. You fit in 1 or 2 MWDs for the travel and when you arrive there you deactivate on or both to get more shields and cap again. Sounds nice, but it also need some restrictions like only in 'safe' places and lets say it needs 30sec or even longer to deactivate and in this time your ship cant move or do something else.
good or bad idea?

It would really need a skill, module, or drone to be required. Just a delay/period where you cannot do anything is not balance enough.
Skill: Mobile Module Management Description: Allows the use of module management modules. Bonus: 10% time reduction in module power down/up Requirements: Mechanic 4/5, Engineering 4, Electronics 5 Rank: 3
Skill: Refitting Drones Description: Allows the use of refitting drones. Bonus: 10% refitting time reduction Requirements: Drones 5, Heavy Drone Operation 3, Mobile Module Management 2 Rank: 4
Something like that... And maybe the starting time period for the modules is something like 2 min and for drones, 1 min.
It's a good idea, but it needs to be skill/equipment based. And obviously my idea needs some tweaking if it is ever added.

excellent idea, i like the skill idea AND the delay. the delay so when people want to switch off their guns and turn on their MWD, they can't escape instantly, and they can' go back and forth easily.
please incorporate this into the game

I think that CCP is already working with in-flight module fitting. _______________________________________________

it was in a test build on chaos couple of months ago... they had a reason not to go live, i just dont know it :D
then u could rightclick any module and choose "Toggle online".

yup I thought also about that It is possible to toggle online when not (cool for people who forgit to do it when docked) but we really need to be able to oggle off. It would be a basic feature in a real ship in space, don't you think so ?
