Fk the haters.
Mangaskry, I am a self diagnosed sociopath, but I do have one redeeming quality, I only grief griefers and bullies.
If you decide to stay in game I promise my main will come over to your system and fk up your antagonists. Free of charge no strings attached.
I care.
They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Alliances will rise and fall, but one constant in Eve is the smouldering dumpster that is C & P.

I know how you feel man. I spent 3 weeks in the recruiting forums talking to recruiters and watching all the advertisments before I finally joined a corp when I returned. You really have to find the right people that have similar goals to yours. Even then the biggest problem could be the alliance the corp decides to join. There have been many a corp I have joined where the alliance people were just not for me.
I feel like my current corp has decent and mature people to play with so we will see where this one goes.
Also don't give your stuff to any of these people. None of them deserve it. Biomass your char and let all your stuff go into the great beyond. |

I find the whole recruitment process, as a player looking for a corporation tedious, there's not only play-styles that need to align but player ambitions. The best way I have found to meet people of like minds, is here on the forums or in local, in the aforementioned quiet bit of space, where you can talk freely without worrying about rail guns tearing through your hull. The best ship of all in these cases, the friendship builds over time. |

Other such games exist, and most of them protect players from the thigns EVE allows. EVE players go and try them, find them to be boring as hell and come right back to dirty old EVE and it's mean players. The OP himself spent 11 years playing a game he didn't like when there have been various alternatives during that time (Black Prophecy, Star Trek Online, the Star Wars games and others). I think that some folks fail to realize that multiplayer gaming is not really for them and so they blame the games or their communities instead.
Well. So much answers and so much usual, stupid crap. I looked back in to see if at least 1 person understood. In all that scum a normal human being...well, have no fear i don't think its you, but i haven't finished looking. I just ask you to read what others write before you judge them. I said i loved the game but the community is a pile of ****..with exceptions, as always. THE GAME itself kept me coming back. My memory saved just the good gaming moments i tried to explain in my posting, so i always hoped after some years, that maybe i changed, or the community changed..but well. Things are not so easy as you "people" might think. |

All I can say is, I'm sorry you experienced this side of eve... even though it's not hard to experience this side of eve. It seems that 9 out of 10 people in eve are representing that side. I would advise you to take pleasure when meeting that 1 out of 10 people who play this game to help others, to experience eve together, but I fear it is too late for that. So, all I can say now is good luck mate. I hope you find a game with a community that will not call you "sissy", "whinner", or anything bad for just trying to find your steps in it. o7
Thanks for the heads up, and what you adviced i tried also..seeing the good sides in community, the fair people. But unfortunately the many bad and disguisting sides drag me down much more then people like you lifted me up. As you said 9 sick on 1 fair. It was that hard that my real life started to bench to the bad side also..i was more aggressive and emotional and uncontrolled after some weeks. No game should do this to someone. Thanks for your advice and the best wishes to you also. |

Welp...gl in your future gaming endeavors, OP. I do hope you come back to EvE as you know it has a lot of interesting things to it...just don't let people upset you.
edit: Who cares what others say about you? Don't let it get to you. Nobody but you controls your reactions.
Well, to answer your first part..you get with your emotions into a game, the first step is fun, fun is an emotion and bang..you're in. Problem is, the game bought you then because when you have fun, you have pain when worse things happen. Without any emotions i would never play a game, what for ?
You'e edit is very true, i often try this, sometimes it works but at a certain points its just to much. Imagine someone spits you into your face, at a certain point you would hit him..after the 3rd spit or after 10th, right ?

Bumped out of a belt? Ever thought of changing systems (there is like 10.000 of those) or hitting the orbit button (hard to bump)?
Null-bearing not a thing? Mine neither. Luckily there are other activities. HS is a tutorial zone.
Maybe online games are not for you at all? Personally I'd seek assistance if someone being mean in a tutorial zone (or on forums) would make me feel uncomfortable. That's human interaction, it's like it is. Eve still has one of the (if not the) most mature communities.

Eve is a PvP game, whether you want it or not, when you log in you consent to any PvP that finds you. If you whine about your losses in any other PvP game you'll get the same reaction as you get here; ridicule.
I just answer to this. I heared your argument 1000 times, its old like history and as stupid as it also.
"Planet earth is a pvp-world. There are safe zones, but you can murder everywhere and you can be murdered everyhwere, this means: If you dont like murdering or getting murdered, if you try to stay out of this or if YOU DARE TO COMPLAIN about it, you are wrong here."
Yes a game i can leave, real life i can not. But when i really like this game, why should i leave it that quick ? I say, that eve has big pvp-space, many areas. But this doesnt mean that all have to like pvp, to play pvp or even accept pvp as a playstile, when there are totally different playstiles possible too. Same lesson for you: fight your ignorance. |

I'm not a bully. I got bullied at school a LOT (at least... until I got to be twice their size, they figured out real quick that fights with me ended fast and badly for them).. I know how that feels. I'm the epitome of a nice guy IRL.
In Eve, I'm not a nice guy. In these forums, I'm kind of in the middle because there is an Out-Of-Game aspect involved I think.
Regardless.. ingame I'm an ******* of epic proportions. And I love it. It's just a game, people with thin skin can go to the games that offer protection for people with softer constitutions.
I'm not talking down at said thin-skinned people, I realize that it's not something for everyone. This game is for the thicker-skinned people, who like to get a little rough with each other.

Did you just equate killing someone in a video game to murdering someone in the real world? And you call us toxic?
I suggest you seek help with your apparent inability to separate reality from fantasy, also your choice of comparisons.
Quote:Yes a game i can leave, real life i can not. But when i really like this game, why should i leave it that quick ? Eve is obviously not the game for you, while you claim to like the game itself, you seem to find the very cornerstones that it is built upon distasteful. There is no shame in leaving a game that is built around gameplay that you don't like.
Quote:I say, that eve has big pvp-space, many areas. Nope, the entire universe is PvP space, ask any dev, ask any ISD member, read the official new player FAQ linked in my sig (page 21 will prove to be of interest).
Quote:But this doesnt mean that all have to like pvp, to play pvp or even accept pvp as a playstile, when there are totally different playstiles possible too. Actually it does, pretty much every "PvE" activity in Eve is geared towards enabling PvP or providing the possibility of conflict that leads to PvP. If anything PvP is the only valid playstyle and everything else is a subset of it.

You proof how living on the absolute surface of mind is. Never look into something, never try to see more then good words, bad words. You are the sort that is begging to be lied, abused and betrayed. So, you decide to go ganking and hurting people which is ok because you do not use bad words. This reminds me at demonstrations, where leftwing extremist-brainfart juveniles throw fire and stone at people that hurt political correctness just by having another opinion like their own. They fight them with violence for humanism and for a better world. And they NEVER would use bad language. Sigh. Can i have your smartphone ? |

Eve above all else is just a game. It's easy to lose sight of that when it can take months to get into some ships. Years even for the biggest ships in the game.
If you are sick of gankers, start mitigating your risk. Wormhole space is perilous, but very isky. Nullsec space, ironically is the safest space in the game, provided that you are in a good alliance in a good coalition (Because you are aware of roamers 5-10 jumps out leaving you plenty of time to get your stuff safe). Lowsec is the highest chance you have of getting ganked because that's where everyone goes who wants to solo or small group pvp. High sec? Unbelievably risky because you never know of the intentions of other people in your system.. They could be a ganker gang which can surprise you and steal your loot.
Plus, the golden rule of eve: NEVER fly anything you cannot afford to loose. When you undock, consider the ship already lost. Any isk you make? A bonus. Plus the second biggest rule in EVE : Risk is Isk. Want to earn a decent amount of isk without the risk? Mitigate your risk with my previous suggestions.
Eve is ironically a community game. You prosper the most when you work together in a community. You suffer/don't do that well when you work alone. Don't want to use TS or ever talk to people? Explore or run missions.
Don't like the people you are working with? You can always find another corp or alliance.
Eve is a sandbox. The rush and thrill of the game is what makes this game so unique. It's the space between triumph and disaster that makes the game so fun. There are so many options and possibilities in eve, it's truly remarkable.
But honestly, if after 11 years all you've done is mine, you've missed out on so much of what EVE has to offer.
Hopefully, I've helped you out in some way. Don't rage quit the game because of gankers or being in a crappy part of new Eden. Find a new part of eve to explore and experience.
PS: PVP is the heart of the game. It's beating core. You gotta dig through the crust before you reach the gold. That is the purpose of PVE in EVE. Mining is only a means to an end, it's not the end itself. |
