Just another idea to get blobs to spread out, without breaking the game, and without introducing a whole load of content or whatever.
Give exploding ships an AOE.
Simple idea, but blobs would be really vulnerable if they were too close together.
You'd need to do something like 'Remote Explosion Dampeners' on empire gates and stations to prevent lots of empire griefing I guess, but the princple could still be implemented where it would help (0.0).
Balancing could even already be in-game - AmountOfArmor damage, of racial damage type, over AmountOfShield radius, with SignatureResolution of SignatureRadius?.
Please discuss, it is entirely possible that this would be bad for a lot of reasons that I haven't thought of. I just thought it was possibly good and worth discussing.
