Anyone know if eve will run with an ati radeon mobility m6 card in a dell smart 250n laptop.
at present the screen suffers from white out latest drivers from dell are installed.

I seriously doubt that chipset will support Hardware T&L and that could be the problem. The latest drivers are from 2002 and would not be very supportive of DX 9.0b.
It is most likely a limitation of the chipset.

Dell probably doesnt even use catalyst for your ati card.
Try using these ones

Get the 6166, not the omega.

If that works, let me know. I've been wondering that for a while. I have seriously doubted it would work but if it does, there's a laptop that I've been meaning to get.

I have an ati radeon mobility m6 card in my HP laptop and it works fine with Eve. Just be sure to have the latest driver.

Hi guys just to let you know downloaded latest drivers as suggested and lo and behold works a treat in fact its faster than my dell desktop...

Yup I also got a 250N and eve uberly *****s with the drivers from the dell website so what should I be using, I was under the impression that catalyst was only for the desktop ATI cards... I run em on the Rad9200 in my desktop.... so what should I be running on my 250N

goto Rage3D and look on the forums under Radion Mobile
They list how to modify the current driver releases to work on the mobile chipsets
Currently running v 4.7 on my Mobile 9600

I have tried both the omega drivered and modded catalyst drivers ... they both seemed to fix the problem, until I attempted to undock at which point the game crashes to desktop and a i get an error message... Any ideas anyone. I'd be interested to hear from anyone else with 250N and how they fixed it..

How much memory does that card have, I checked on the spec's page and the minimum listed is a 32Mb graphics card (With T&L)
All I have seen so far on the M6 is 8Mb and a sneeking suspition that this card does NOT support T&L, even the rage 128 was lacking T&L.
Because EvE needs T&L to support the space environment I dont think you will get the game to work fully with that graphics card.
To check once and for all if the card supports T&L, download 3DMark01 and run it, under options see if you have Hardware T&L available, if not EvE will not run with this card.
