That seems to be the case, yeah.
It's the result of someone hacking my infomorph in storage and digitally corrupting a lot of it, so it's not like I just hit my head or something. Practical skills and intellectual knowledge survived; pretty much nothing else did.
So, yeah. I'm not really her, as such.
Was that... you?

People don't even treat their damn channel logs as recklessly as their infomorphs these days, it's insane.
Lot-¦s of CONCORD regulations kinda monopolizing the market. The fluid router business got on pretty good with several companies operating it (with due supervision from concord of course), why the clone market doesn-¦t do the same points only to an agenda of their own to limit our power, the available technology, and most of all, protecting the gateless doors of the dreamstate.
That is why i invite people to help project Transcendence push the boundaries of not only their grasp on us, but the grasp from this universe.

Screening violently psychotic tendencies out, rather than seeming to screen toward them, might be a good start. Given the number of eggers who are rampaging murderbots with no other real ambitions... I can't imagine that's a normal sampling of the population, even with my generally dim view of humanity. That has to be a trait or tendency the capsuleer programs look for and promote. Unless whatever it is that allows us to survive the process is also mostly prevalent in murderously inclined individuals. A linkage of traits.
Graelyn wrote:Given the low number of genome-compatible candidates, I imagine they take anything that pops the screening process.
A capsuleer is a very rare breed, first the physiological aspect, then the psychological treatment. It-¦s not like they have an abundant supply to cherry pick from.

Perhaps those are precisely the ones capable of enduring such a process.
As mentioned, the psychological resilence to endure the dissolution of ego is as important as the physiological compabilities. I can-¦t find the bibliography right now, but that may be one of the factors of such a large portion of achura capsuleers within the ranks.

Hard mental conditioning and training since childhood. At least the rural ones, never cared for the big SuuVee cities, too much mundane aspects.

Traditional: practice with that [insert weapon here] until it becomes a part of your arm. Train until you move and act without thought, as naturally and automatically as wind blows or water flows. Be a sword, be a knife, be a gaffe hook and pole-- and realize, in that time, where is "self"?
Capsule: jack into a chunk of technology and poof, you're a supercarrier. Where is "self"?
You can maybe see the appeal of taking the kinda-sorta shortcut and getting to see the stars in the bargain instead of being stuck on Achura all your life.
Precisely.
There are no monolithic organizations and you pointed several good reasons for our people to take the leap. I was merely pointing to a certain framework of mind processes that are common to our people and foreing to others.
And since you got to that point, you know what is like to be, and you know our capsuleer path is a shortcut for several years of training to get to that position. Project transcendence is an extensions of this, but instead of a knife or a supercarrier, a shortcut to be one with the universe.

If that were true, they wouldn't have been able to expand the empires' capsuleer programs last year with the alphas. Clearly, not everyone who can be an egger gets in.
The alphas are just a cheaper clone that can get stuff done that pleases the empires. You reduce the maintenance of the workforce and those that excel get a better clone to do more stuff. Every ibis we get when we arrive in a station in a pod, every pod after we die, every clone bay and tech staff that monitors it, every clone and a lot of other support are financed by the empires. The alphas were just a way to spend less on us.
Nothing to do with compability to become a capsuleer.

The alphas also represented a massive expansion, numerically, of the empires' capsuleer programs. If in November of YC 118, 3x as many people were completing the capsuleer programs per week as in October, this does not represent a massive change in the human genome.
Of course it doesn-¦t. Simply means that those who were compatible but didn-¦t get in are now getting in because the budget allows the empires to finance their operations. How many pilots quit their operations due to expired plex? QE 4-He is very expensive.
People take our infrastrucutre for granted and forget that our operation is subsidized by the empires and concord. The moment they pull the plug on our clone systems we-¦re pretty much dead as a force and we would live in a world without capsuleers.

Do please try to keep track of what it is you're claiming. Because you've just contradicted yourself. You were arguing against the idea that the available pool of applicants was wide enough that not everyone who could get in was getting in, ie: they can be screening out the nutjobs. Tell you what, though: how about I just pay attention to the people who don't openly tell me everyone should ignore them because nothing they say or do matters. Sound good? Eh, whatever you answer isn't important, so let's go with 'ok'.
- Capsule compability is rare. (Biology + Psychology) - Not all of those that are compatible get in. (Money Limits + Individual traits and performance = Ranking) - With new tech, more of those that are compatible get in. (Less expenditure = More people with the same money)
If you want to consider that criteria is cherry picking, than the issue it-¦s in your interpretation of a metaphor. Our kind continues to be rare, and the empires continue to do as much as they can with the budget they have, not picking who can be capsuleer as a whim.
But as you said, let-¦s go with 'ok'.
