Seems people want capitals, but don't want to do the training time. CCP is busy, making these ships seems like a waste of time considering there are more pressing issues. |

No the op is just referring to the gap between a a BS and a Dread/Carrier, and lets be honest there is a big gap. We are talking about ships with costs of about 200m with fit included (BS) to others with costs of (1.5-2.5 bilion isks).
The idea of a light capital would be to fullfield the gap that exists at the moment. In terms of skilling the requirements could be the same of Dread. The Firepower could be the same but not the tankability or vice versa.

What a Necro, this Topic is 3 Month old
But I started this thread and the idea was to create a new kind of anti capital ship. with the purpose of engaging and tackling capitals, even the otherwise EW-immune supersized ones.
I proposed not a solo-pwnmobile, but a specialised ship that shares some abilities with larger capital ships, without being uber-ships. If used in groups successfull against Capital Ships and a match against Battleships, but not immune against EW and support and very vulnerable if engaged by a gang of HACs, Recons and Inties, that know what they are doing.
XL -Sized Turrets and Missile Bays yes. Also Capital Remote Armor Repairer or even some special module like Capital AB/MWD for this class, but only with Tech 1 Ship Resists and of course no Siege or Triage Mode.
In the end a ship that is a bit larger than a BS, using XL-type equipment, but not having the flexibility of a BS.

Hunter killer ships, to counter capitals....werry interesting.
Skills for it, werry easy, you fly dread, you can fly one of these
Weapons, yes deffently a full rack of citadels or gunz, to make skills more ineteresting, might alow mix weapons 2 gunz 2 torps
Size, bigger than a BS smaller than the dread
Looks, werry streamlined with two major turrets on top and on the bottom and two side torp tubbes (make space like motor torpedo boat looks on them (each country had dif looks remake those looks)
I love this idea so mutch that i dont want to keep on going, but Capital ship hunters would be an awsome asset to anyone.

Even with eight turrets, there things could easily be balanced to be useless at killing anything smaller than a carrier, and only as useful at shooting starbases as a battleship. Take the bonuses from the destroyer as an example:
Quote: Destroyer Skill Bonus: 10% bonus to Small [x] Turret tracking speed and 10% bonus to Small [x] Turret optimal range per level
Penalty: -25% rate of fire for all turrets Bonus: 50% bonus to optimal range for small [x] turrets
Now assume six high slots. On the dreadnought, each gun would put out somewhere around 200 DPS with a few damage mods. Take into account the RoF penalty and that drops to 150 DPS per turret. Multiply by six, and you're looking at 900 DPS - no more than a gank fitted battleship, with inferior tracking built in despite the ship's tracking bonus. Combine this with the restrictive slot configuration (6-1-5 Amarr, 6-5-1 Caldari, 6-4-2 Minmatar & 6-2-4 Gallente) and you would have some very interesting ships indeed. As I see them, they should have approximately half the hitpoints and mass of a Dreadnought (of course, T1 resists) and be jump capable.
Oh, and call them Corvettes...

Originally by: Deviana Sevidon Oh and Juggernaut is also a nice name for this...
I would propose keeping the Juggernaught title in reserve for the eventual T2 Dreadnaught class, if there ever is one.
For a mini-capital/mega-battleship, I'd go with the antiquated name "Monitor". -------------------------------------------------- FRIGATS Coalition FREGE-Red-IAC-Goon-AAA-Tau-Southerncross
