Okay, I've done every mission my research agent has dished out so far, until yesterday, my agent asked for electronic parts and there were none for sale in the region, having better things to do I simply didn't accept the mission.
24 hours later I lose corp and personal standing for my indecisivness. Fair enough but why the hell don't the mission I actually do complete raise my standing, at this point in time I'll never get that back.
If I had declined the mission, either before or after accepting it would I lose standing?
Secondly, atm cannot transfer research points which in my situation is very inconveinient.
My research agent is 14 jumps from my normal agent, is lvl 1, is the only Amarr agent with mechanical engineering and untill such time as I train my skills higher is giving me 9.99 RP's per day. Since that time I have aquired many more skills and access to better agents but untill I can tranfer RP's or have more than one research project at a time I'm stuck with him, I only have 300 odd total RP's but I worked hard for them and I'm not throwing them away.
Can we get this issue on top of the to do list, or at least get an acknowledgement that is is being looked at? It's just rather lacking atm.
Cheers, Vas.

It is, indeed, being looked at. I should dig up the quote from Papa Smurf saying he was looking at some way to allow transfer of research, otherwise you might choose not to believe me .. but it's 1am, and i can't be bothered. Believe me or not as you wish

Your questions are sound and I think pretty common among people that don't hunt all Research info.

No you wouldn't lose anything if you had declined the mission. You can also just ignore the call.

What you should do is to get a lvl 3 agent that has lvl 3 in the skill you training (Mechanical Engineering). If you can use one now then you will earn a lot when changing (two more skill levels helps alot if the agent has positive effective quality (EQ) ).
Train connections. VERY useful skill. Make sure you have patch 1360.
To calculate your RP to see how much you will gain on getting an agent with higher level in the skill then use the forumula:
(1+EQ/100)*(Your skill lvl+Agent skill level)^2
The "^2" goes before the "*"
Good luck now.

I hope that if one simply ignores the summons nothing like this happens.

ah-hem......... ignoring/not accepting the RD agents missions WILL result in a lose of standing with the RD agent.

In spite of the fact that Zrakor and Papa Smurf said it won't?

can only tell it as i see it.
i declined to accept a "homeless missions" from my RD agent and now have a -0.04 standing.
he no longer evemails me with jobs. most most annoying indeed.

Based on the formulae for RP there seems to be no difference between the difference agent levels - a lvl 3 agent with EQ of 10 would give the saem RP as a lvl 2 or 1. That doesn't seem right to me.

Go talk to him anyways. This happened to a corp-mate of mine where he stopped getting mails from his agent after refusing or ignoring a mission (can't remember which). He went the the agent anyways and the agent had a mision for him. He did that mission and the agent sends him mails again.
Maybe the agent just gets peeved and forgets to send the mails....the mission is probably still there though.

The important difference is, to what level does the agent have the skill that you intend to research. Of course, lvl 1 agents will only ever have a skill to lvl1; lvl2 will *mostly* have skills to lvl2, but some skills they will only have to lvl 1; and so on.
Being aware that, after ten years of exposure to algebra in school, most people will start making holy symbols whenever they see a formula, I prefer to explain it like this;
Add your level in the skill, to the agent's level in the skill. Square the total.
Divide your agent's EQ by 100, and add 1.
Multiply together the two results.
So, you are partly correct; a level 3 agent who has Laser Physics at level 1, is no better than a level 1 agent who has Laser Physics at level 1. The trick is to find the level 3 agent who has Laser Physics to level 3. In the case of research agents, it is *definitely* much more important to have a higher level, than a better quality.

Once you ask for a mission from a normal agent it will result in a faction change one way or the other, You have to either
a.) Complete it b.) Refuse it c.) Wait for it to time out
To figure out who sells trade goods, visit the "World of Eve" on this web page and look at what each corps sells. Then check the station list to see what region they're predominatly in. And/or Ask around on channels (like trade). -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |

What I think some people are getting confused is the whole issue of 'ignoring' the research agent.
If you go talk to them after getting an email, you've 'answered the call', and at that point can either do the mission or refuse it. Closing it and ignoring it from there will result in a sec loss, as far as I can tell from everyone's posts.
But if you get the email, and don't even bother going to talk to your agent, I don't think you get penalized. Otherwise it would -force- you to log in if you wanted to do research projects period. Within two, three days at most, your rating with that agent would plummet to unusuable otherwise.
Travelling to, and declining the mission once you see what it is is technically not supposed to penalize you. Note, this is -declining-, not cancelling after acceptance.
Remember, once you look in the journal, you still have roughly 23 hours to decline or accept, so can checksee if the materials are availble, and even try to get them to your agent before accepting the mission.
If she's asking for 40 homeless, you can decline right away.

Im pretty certain that once the e-mail is sent your research is stopped so if you dont go and speak with your agent you dont get any further RP. That was the original idea anyway. You get 24 hours so its not as bad as the normal missions.
I know this should be obvious but always read your mission. I thought the R&D agents only asked for things, after glancing at my last mission I went off and bought 381 toxic waste only to get back and find he was giving me 381 toxic waste to go and dump in another system. DOH!!
