Hello all you badass spacepirates out there! At last I can afford to buy myself my first Megathron and I need som help fitting it! I havent played for such a long time, so Im building quite a cheap one because I cant afford to loose it! I have done my militaryservice under about 10 months of time and I have had my account running for the time so I have about 1 year of skilltraining.
I have figured out quite a cheap setup in Quickfit, please give me constructive criticism, and If you think I should swap modules in some way please explain why and what purpose!
Highslots: 6 x Ion Blaster Cannon I 2 x Heavy Nosferatu I
Medslots: 1 X 100MN Microwarpdrive I 1 x Webber 1 x Scrambler 1 x ? Cap Recharger for now ?
Lowslots: 2 x Large Armor Repairer I 2 x Magnetic Field Stabilizers I 2 x N-type depending on what Im facing 1 x 1600 plate
Im aware of that everything is tech1 and that it sucks but im quite poor but quite eager to own a Megathron!

I would suggest that no matter how much your eager to fly the megathron you might want to keep it parked in he hangar till you can afford at least some half decent named modules if not T2 stuff.
In the mean time get a good cruiser - set it up for ratting or missions and make the isk to equip and insure that megathron
It's just a game........Or is it?????

if you dont do as that guy said,
just use it for low level missions. loose the 1600 plate fit a damage control
as you will only use it for like lvl 3 missions, just fit 1 rep. this should let you fit another hardner or adap nano.
left over pg = fit another ion, or upgrade to neuts
mwd cant be used in most missions, dont use it for pvp so loose the scrambler.
fit 2x cap rechargers.
if cap is still a problem, fit a cap relay, or if you get cash. ccc rigs

^^ what he said. It looks like your fitting this for PVP and one thing thats for sure in this game is you will lose your ships eventually and in pvp it tends to happen faster. If you can't afford to lose it then dno't fly it.
Instead I recommend either a thorax or brutix for pvp. Both are excellent blaster boats and can deal some mean damage.
If you insist on flying your mega though in pvp here's a setup to use:
Highs: same as yours or 7 x Ion's 1 x nos
Medslots: Depends on solo or gang. If in a gang you may want to drop the web or scram for a sensor booster or some form of EW. No cap rechargers. Those won't help at all in pvp. You need a cap booster.
Lows: again depends on solo or gang. You might want to go with 1 repper, 1 explosive hardner, 2-3 eanm's and a mag field stabilizer.

the cheapest named items tend to be even cheaper than plain T1
dunno why - and they are better ---------- signature removed - please do not discuss moderation in your signature graphic - Jacques([email protected])

AH. The mega is a super hard **** to fit in in grid and especially CPU.
Drop the ion cannons. The best named electrons go for dirt in gallante space. These EASILY out DPS unamed ions and track better (i am guessing you got poo gunnary). Plus are so easy to fit. I am guessing your skills are a little n00b from your post so you are gonna need to use eletrons to get a good fit anyway. Oh yeah don't forget the best named NOS you can afford too.
Strap on 3 hardenders on the lows 3 best named mag stabs you can afford, oh and Dual best named reppers large armor. Fit mwd, cap injector, and web and distruptor in the mids.
Also ignore what I said and go buy a NOS domi cause that will win win win for 10th the skill and 1/2 the cost.
But if you hooked on the megathrons looks, and the cool feeling of doing damage like a prooper battleship get the mega.
With drones (I assume you can use ogres) you should get over 500DPS with antimatter (only use antimatter!) Thats enough to kill most armour repping battlcriusers, you want to stay away from T2 things though. *****************************************

Uh? how can you fit that. 6x ions, 2 heavy nos, 2 large armor reps? are you crazy? thats not going to work.
Youll be lucky if you can get 1 nos and 1 large armor rep- unless you got like 40 mill skill points and can fight stuff like crazy.
Anyway here is a REAL setup that can tank very nicely and put out some nice damage.
7x ion (best named) 1x medium nos
1x quad lif rockets (bes tnamed MWD 100mn) 1x web 1x point 1x cap injector
2x 1600mm rolled tug 1x damage control 2 1x armor rep 2 1x explosive active hardener (ntypes) 1x kintex 1x thermal
I tanked a thanatos for 1 minutes under sentry fire until i could redock.. managed to survive with 3500 hull hp.

Absolutely, the DPS from best named T1 Electrons is definitely as good as Ions, the only drawback being reduded optimal and falloff. This means you can fit a Heavy T2 Cap Injector which is much more important.
Listen to the above poster he has it straight, and don't PvP unless you're in a gang. If you can't do the big T2 cap injector maybe fit a second nos, 2 x T2 Magstab and 2 x Accom reppers with a DC2 and 2 x Faction EANM. If you can run to it fit 2 x Aux Nano Pump and an Anti-Explosive Pump, they're not too expensive these days. If you can't afford to even fit it, then don't flying it!
If you really are broke then BUY A DOMINIX, it is sooo much better for missions to earn cash and can cut really it big time in a gang for PvP with a simple mid/high slot fitting changes. It really is the 'Swiss Army Knife' of Gallente Battleships (and insurance is MUCH cheaper). Or why not a Myrmidon if you're only running level 2/3 missions?

If you want any active tank, look at the hyperion. Its build to tank. On the megathron, use the following:
7x Neutron Blasters
1x 100mn mwd 1x heavy cap injector 1x webber (good named, because of CPU, I use X5) 1x scrambler (good named, because of CPU)
2x 1600mm plates 1x EAN II 1x 'refuge' adaptive nano plating 1x DC II 2x MFS II
There are variations for the low slots, you can play with those. If you use t1 blasters, cpu is not a problem. -- Hello World. |

Nice fit, where do you like to hang out?
You can do a really nice hybrid Top Named T1/T2 fit with rigs on the Megathron for less than a bare Hyperion costs. T2 guns and Ogres are nice, but the ship is still a useful addition to any gang without them, and if you're tight on grid then check out the LP store, a 3% PG Hardwire is almost free!
