Hi there, Just looking for some advise on running lvl 4 missions solo - flying Amarr. I've done some reading on the forum and know that this is doing it the hard way and that a Raven tends to be the mission runners BS of choice but I want to try it the Amarr way.... Currently I am using an Apoc and have had some success on half a dozen lvl4's though don't think I have hit any of the nasty's yet. Can anyone suggest setups for an Apoc that would work? I am currently at about 9 million sp with most of that spread evenly between Gunnery, drones, Spaceship command and the support skills. I can use tech II in most things (but not large lasers yet ) At the moment I can't afford uber faction modules. Any suggestions (other than fly Caldari) would be appreciated. Thanks

i use an apoc with t2 mega pulse(7 of them). 100mn ab and 3 t2 cap rechargers. 2 ts large reps and ts hardeners. and 2 cap rigs.
the hardeners isnt too expensive, search under contracts for "true sansha". the dmg is good enough, but then i got 14m in gunnery.

It takes quite a while to train for t2 large guns, so you might consider training for a hac instead. I used to love the zealot for lvl 4s, until I upgraded to an absolution. It can inst-pop the frigs at very long range (use beams) and then it can tank pretty well, and if fighting sanshas/blood raiders you can just orbit a bs at close range and not get touched! :) -

I've done quite a lot of mission in pure t1 fits. Well, anything i had named was used
General rule of thumb for Apoc. High: Dual Heavy Beams/Pulse - Leaves a lot for the tank Mega Beams - If you know you can snipe them.
Meds: Cap rechargers in general. Sometimes tracking computers and sensor boosters, but you don't go wrong with cap rechargers.
Low: Safe is 2x Large Reppers. 2x2 rat specific hardners. More cap in the rest. You can switch one Large for a Med on lots of missions.. Had missions which i only used the med and not the large.
Some missions it is better to snipe (Ritualistic Raid among others), then go for 100mn afterburner and Tach's.
Hope this helps and good hunting.

Edited by: Korell Twilight on 15/05/2007 23:38:16 it really depends on your skills tbh i use an abaddon for every lvl 4 mission ive had since they were realeased though i not had worlds collide yet. t2 fittings helps you a hell of alot, as do t2 med drones that can polish off any frig or pesky cruiser that gets under your skin the only problem with that ship is cap and if you skills are good enough its not that much of a problem. the apoc is a lovely ship for "beginner" mission running as it is a very forgiving ship where as the other 2 take a few more skills to get them flying right.
if i were you stick to pulses (mega) and if your cap is suffering drop 1 or 2 for nos's though using an apoc with 2 cap rigs fitted should mean u dont need too

I've been running Lvl 4s solo in an Apoc for some time. It used to be fairly difficult before rigs came in, but when I came back after a break and fitted rigs it was much, much easier. I've got just over 8 million sp.
8 mega modulated pulse
100mn afterburner tracking computer webber cap recharger II
2 x LAR 2 - 3 hardeners damage control 1 - 2 cap relay
3 capacitor rigs
That's the basic fitting, although I vary it slightly for different missions. Most of the stuff is named gear I looted along the way, the only stuff I had to buy was the lasers.
The only mission I've turned down is Worlds Collide, the rest are fairly easy, although not exactly quick.
Whey you get to know the missions you can vary the setup, 2 LAR are not needed on many of them, which means you can add heatsinks, on some missions you can drop the webber etc.
The afterburner is essential on some missions to get you close enough to break the enemy's tank.

Try running amarr mission (sansha , blood raiders em/therm) with minnie ships.. they tend to have better base em/therm resist those ugly minnies..

If/when you can, upgrade your Apoc to an Abaddon. The better resists and damage bonus will help quite a bit. You'll have to load the Abaddon with cap rigs however, keep that in mind (also helps to have really good cap skills, but that's an Amarr thing anyway).
My old Apoc fit before I had T2 guns:
Hi-slots 7x Mega Beams, Infrared and Gamma crystals 1x Drone Range Augmentor thingy
Med-slots 2x Cap Recharger II 1x Tracking Computer II 1x Target Painter II
Lo-slots 1x Lg Armor Repairer II 1x Med Armor Repairer II 4x active hardener IIs (varies depending on npcs of course) 1x Cap Relay II
Rigs 1x Capacitor Control Circuit (+15% recharge) 1x Semiconductor Memory Cell (+15% cap) 1x Auxiliary Nano Pump (+15% armor repair amount)
Drones 7x Vespa IIs (5 at a time obviously)
Notes/Alternatives- You can get rid of the Med Armor Repper and add a Damage Control for better resists and some safety. You can also swap it for another Cap Relay if you need to.
- The drones are essential and you want to have good drone skills. They'll take care of everything your guns can't hit, which is frigates, destroyers, and cruisers inside 20km.
- If you're facing Angels, the hardener setup I prefer is 2x EANM II, 1x Kin, 1x Exp. Swapping one EANM for a DC is an alternative. If the Angels tend to get in close to easily (even the BS are faster than you), then you might want to swap the beams for pulses.
- If your fitting skills won't let you fit all that, swapping a mega beam for a dual heavy beam works too, though you lose some range for those 1 or 2 guns.

My abaddon has done me proud, i've only done a few L4s in it, but so far it's worked well:
Highs: 7 x Mega Modulated Energy Beam (Radio/Gamma) 1 x E500 Nos
Mids: 3 x Cap Recharger II 1 x Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor
Lows: 1 x Large Repper II 2 x Heat Sink II
the remaining 4 lows are for armour hardeners, which are either 2 active and 2 passive for rats that do 2 types of damage, or a mixture to get the best overall tank for onmi-damage missions; drones, angel, mercenaries etc, normally kin, therm and exp actives and a nanomembrane 2. this gives me a decent all round tank.
Rigs: 3 x Cap Control Circuits
Drones: 5 x Vespa II 5 x Hornet II
Vespas for cruisers that get too close, hornets for frigs.

Edited by: Red Rumurder on 18/05/2007 13:24:40 i fly raven mainly now and it just makes missions so easy it gets ridiculous. i started off flying amarr and still do for the ones that are weak against lasers. (sanasha, blood raiders mainly)
setup for apoc or abaddon high: as many mega beams as possible (multi, x-ray and microwave crystals) med: 4x Cap Recharge II low: 3 hardners, 2 LARII, 2 CPR II rigs: your choice but i got 2 ccc and 1 armor repair cycle rig drones: 7 med drones (i use to do the small/med mix but med rock)
i can run 2 LARII and guns at same time when the time calls for it with no issues. It is not a permanent running in that setup but a good minute at least.
now i got friends that have morphed that setup to include tacking enhancers and stuff but its been so long since i have played with settings. starting out when your dps is sucky this tank setup will save your ass
ps
set up overview to show transverse speed of targets and keep that as low as possible for best results.

My personal apoc setup is:
6 x Dual Heavy Beam II's 2 x Arbie Heavy Launchers 1 x 100MN AB II 2 x Cap Recharger II 1 x F-B10 Cap Regenerator (not enough CPU for another T2) 2 x LAR II 4 x Rat specific T2 hardeners 1 x Beta reactor control CPR 2 x CCC rigs at the moment, will probably add an Auxiliary Nano Pump as I don't have much problem with cap (Amarr BS V ftw) 5 x Hobgoblin II 5 x Hammerhead II
If the damage is going to be light (e.g. against Sanshas, Blood Raiders) then I drop one of the LARs, freeing up CPU to switch out a Cap Recharger for a webber/tracking computer/target painter/whatever.
