We should allow for every part of the game to made by player owned blueprints. I am talking trade goods to stargates. You should allow every type ship that is ingame to be acquired by players. Nothing should be left untouched.
Maybe some items need a reason to be ingame besides some trade route. make everything makable. Blue print should not be for slaves or marines but why not we can clone and transport ourselves. Maybe we have a reason for biomass... Sig follows- .Join |

Then you would have some stuff that nobody bothers to make since it sucks so much and nobody needs it. :)
But I guess it could be made to work if you make everything on the market useful in some way. One of the problems I see are trade goods though... they are currently very common all over the universe. I dont think they would be if they were player made. Everything would likely just be sold in trade hubs, leaving other stations kind of empty.

Maybe we'll need a bpo for our colonies to produce trade goods, like reactions in reactors.
Other than that... cans, maybe, MAYBE skills, and a couple other trinkets is plenty to add. Leave the dairy products and garbage out of it.

Aw cmon, wtf? You hate space farmers or something? Mish already have Astro Farms, why cant we have them?
And manufacturing these things could do like the drugs, except instead of producing water as a by-product they could produce garbage :)

While it can be interesting and even appropriate for immersion it will risk some imbalance.
For example: hydroponic production module for POS + soil + frozen seed = grain
or
breeding POS + grain + cattle = dairy products (or more cattle)
Nice, but then who will buy it?
If it is sold to NPC it will create a new isk faucet, as the return need to be higher than the costs of the components and the POS managing.
Other items:
Enriched uranium can be produced from a reaction after getting uranium ore from a moon, but that will make the 0.0 zones even less linked to the empires.
Today the 0.0 zones have the high value items (best ores, even it a bit less today, most of the faction items, all of the officer items, most and best moon ores); empire, and high security empire in particular, has most liquid isk.
That keep alive a link between Empire and the 0.0 areas.
With the new mission system in revelation 2 that link will be weakened as isk inflow in hi sec empire will be reduced, while, apparently, it will remain the same in the border areas.
Moving the static complexes to exploration can reduce it a little, but without dubt the complexes will be scannend every day by the same people that now do them every day, rattling isk output apparently will not be changed
So making possible the production by players of every item currently NPC produced will make the border area totally indipendent and essentially create 2 separate play zones, with little permeability between them.
As live in 0.0 will become even more dependant on owning all the BPO and controlling enough resources to be auto sufficent, it will become even more the area of the big alliances and even less accessible to the newcomers alliances or corporations.
(ok, a bit of doomsday prediction , but that is the trend even today)

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 17/05/2007 08:35:40 Many things in EVE serve as huge ISK sinks. Without these sinks, the economy would fill up with ISK and there would be massive inflation.
POSs are one of these items, as are trade goods for fuel, etc.

Truth.
While it would be nice if everything were player generated, the simple fact is that BPOs, skills, POSes, and everything that goes with them, plus Outpost build reqs, are a very important part of keeping inflation in check. These items take billions out of the economy annually and help keep Eve stable.
Anyone who was around when Cap ships were first introduced will have an understanding of just how much ISK has left Eve permanently because of them, hundreds of billions, probably, the first day after the patch. And just one Titan BPO is a huge sink in and of itself.
There may be an unbelievable amount of ISK entering the game each day, but without these sinks, it would make BSes cost several hundred million ISK just to buy them. And we definitely don't want that.

Hmm perhaps whit planetary interaction (planeraty bases and bombardment anyone ) we weill be able to produce some stuff. Like some of the pos things, Oxygen (It's in the bloody moons and ice), Mechanical Parts (you can make a Titan but not some lousy mechanical parts) , Coolant (nitrogen isotopes anyone) , Robotics (t2 drones > robotics) etc.
I don't agree whit player made skills thou. But this kind of production shoud only take aplace in 0.0 to avoid a new isk frow in empire. And DS POS Fuel is insignifican man it's just enoing for the carrier pilots
