I swear, either you or someone with a name very similar to yours Harrowmont once tried to scam me. I believe it was the "Isk doubling game" in Jita, but I can't be sure. It was last year however, towards the end of the year. You may not realise it, but scammers (And growing bored of market games at that time, due to failing and a lack of experience about eve as a game) pushed me into a different path, that is of exploration.
I was extremely successful at exploration, after trial and error and I was making Isk rapidly, accumilating billions over time. It was being forced into exploration which led to my intimate discovery of null sec alliances. Being hunted through Cobalt Edge by inPanic was one of the luckiest things that happened to me, as one of those corps offered me a place in their alliance.
It took a lot of time, learning about the game, generating tonnes of isk with about 6 months in inPanic before joining PH for the purposes of learning PvP. Within my first 2 weeks in PH, I FC'd my first fleet which ended up resulting in a full-on capital brawl causing ~40B of destroyed Dreadnaughts from a failed dread-bombing and that was my first proper fleet as FC (Caps FC'd themselves do note, I FC'd the sub-caps) in PH. (Insider Joke: Horde dosen't have Caps )
It's really funny, to think that this journey I embarked on was because of annoying scammers (Insert "Like you" if appropriate).
Anyways a message for the OP: Moral of the story, the experiences you have in Eve shape and mould you, and completely unexpected things will happen from the nastiest circumstances. Don't quit because you are down on your luck. Eve ultimately is a game of time and you will make plenty of mistakes but never give up. (A good reason for quitting is RL commitments however, Eve can slowly take over your life. Don't turn Eve into a job) . Being a solo player is by far one of the toughest paths you can take. There are very few people who have that capability (And succeed). Eve is designed to be a MMO. It is based around player interaction and such it rewards players for working together. But note that you don't need billions to have alot of fun in Eve. I've had unbelivable fun flying around 3m isk ships through lowsec and teaming up with random people to roam. Alpha ships are actually quite awesome once you know how to fit your race's ships properly.
PS: I still suck at solo pvp, and I've whelped a fleet of cormorants since then (Still very new to FCing), but there are some glorious golden moments you will become a part of. Seeing a carrier for the first time, seeing a super, and then a titan for the first time were some of my most memorable moments. |
