It's just super that instead of only 1 hour of down-time, with the usual start-up issues I get 2 or even 3 hours of down-time.

CCP please throw people who play in this TZ a bone, and no, not everyone gives a damn about complexes or missions. Something else.

Is the startup always like this during the week?
I never am on on this time but its a national holiday in holland now. This really sucks being not able to use a service you pay for...

Almost half the time start-ups are like this. This is from an old thread, but here is my life in E-O on a day I have RL obligations:
0600: awake
0800: leave for work
1200: come home for lunch, not many on at this time
1300: work again, onoes
1800: come home, shower, eat, family crap
2030: get on eve for a solid hour
2100: down-time
2200: time to log in after down-time, no wait
2300: surely it's up now??
2400: go to sleep, probably without playing EVE

It would be nice if DT moved...maybe they do it first thing in their work day some weeks....maybe they do it mid to late afternoon others. As it is currently, it slices right through the same peoples prime playing time every day.....and its not even a dependable plannable around one hour - its random.
That's not taking account of extended DT's for maintenance, patches....

You had more numbers than us, could have easily out-done us considering your ship types and that we were criminally flagged and had no EWar (you had a falcon too btw, now that I recall)
You chose not to engage us for the 2 hours we were hanging about the same constellation and then complain that we ganked a battleship flying solo?
Next time form a gang, maybe 2:1 wasn't good enough for you, perhaps your guys were waiting for 3:1 before engaging. Luckily we found one of your yellow asses first.

moron. This guy is merely sympathising with the OP, for having the DT cut into his prime time every single day, at times when EU and US players would be setting out on ops or roams etc.
and why does every thread with an INFOD member in it have to turn into a smackfest

DT has been around since i started EvE in 2003.
Its a requirement, and from a business standpoint CCP cater to the masses, IE Euro and US. Sucks for timezones not near either of these..
Though i have to say 80% of the DT's from my experience last less then the hour.
DT times will never change, because it would upset 80% of their playerbase... But i do sympathise with the OP, its sucks. But dont expect anything to ever be done about it.

when exactly do you suggest they do it?
At any point in the day its going to effect people, so why not choose when its good for them, so they don' have to pay somebody more money to do it at 4 in the morning?
Which would effect just as many people, perhaps even more, considering that would be midnight for me.

CCP has stated many times that downtime is at a time that is convenient for the CCP staff doing the maintennance. i.e. after they've had time for meetings, coffee, detox, etc. Downtime is at a time that if something goes massively awry, then they have the staff on-hand to be able to fix the issue.
It has nothing to do with what time it's conveineint or inconvenient to the playerbase, or the majority of the players, or anything. It's got to do with the time of day in London that the staff finds it the most convenient.

Well the simple fact is that the vast majority of Eve's players are in Europe (not to mention all of CCP's staff) and the US, and the Chinese market gets its own server.
Translation: Nobody gives a crap about the aussies and other countries in that region.

Why is it that once a week the same thread comes up?
DT is there for the Dev's not for the players, and the servers are in London, so when the Dev's move to Aus then the DT will change. Oh there not gonna move, tough luck, work round it.
Yes you pay for a service however when you sign up for the service you are told that there is a DT at 12 till 1 GMT (usually shorter, sometimes longer) and you sign up to having the DT. If you don't want the DT don't sign up, simple!
I'm actually moving to New Zealand, yes it will be annoying but that's how it goes...plus it's only a game!!
