So, I am needing some help and advice. Me and my friends are interested in starting a corporation, and making it out into 0.0 space to begin a new empire. Yes, I know, lofty goals, but we have a lot of time on our hands, and are really looking forward to making this work. I understand that anyone that has the skill can create a corporation, and invite people in, but I am curious as to what is really needed to make a corporation that can stand up against other corporations in 0.0 space, and can (eventually) be self-sufficent. I have a rough draft of the organization needed, but I would like to know what I should change to make everything easier and more streamlined.

Any links that you can provide, or any tips that you can add, I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you.

Dedicated people, a pvp force that can hold its own, a structured corp, that fills the roles of isk generating, building, protecting, evolution. Each member needs to know what is required of him. Each member has to understand that he should fill his role. Social/empathy/decision making skills are good values in a leader.
Three of the most important factors are great leadership, dedication, and diplomacy. Without that your demise will come to an abrupt end, regardles how well thought out the rest was.

There's very few corporations that live in 0.0 by themselves. Most belong to an alliance, or have an arrangement with one.
Best bet is to get a corp going, get an industrial base going so you can manufacture your own ships and modules, or at least some of them. Then advertise in the recruitment section of the forum for an existing alliance.
Interesting chart. How many members you planning on having? If you're having less than 30, the just split it into PvP and Industry, though people have to be able to do both. If you can't defend your space, you get sent back to empire doublequick.

A good place to get started in 0.0 is one of the NPC regions. With some careful planning it's pretty easy to insert yourself into an area, get settled, make nice with some of the locals (maybe--really depends on where you are and who is around), and begin doing some isk making / PvPing.
Be ready to PvP every single day.
After you've been out there a few months you'll probably find yourself making some friends and forging the kind of relationships necessary for large scale "empire building".
It takes a long time to do from scratch, but it's not impossible. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice and support. I know that it is going to take a long time. The corporation at first is going to be small, but will soon (hopefully) branch out the way I had outlined, and be at least a couple hundred strong.

Just a quick friendly reminder Zeveroth....corp ticker needs to show under your name (although you may be in a NPC corp from the looks of your thread) or the mods will play footsie with your thread

I would suggest that you can rather simplify your corp structure if your goal is to ultimately become a major 0.0 corp see l337 diagram for details. Infact you can go even simpler than this, the CEO needn't be on a separate level from the directorship if you know your directors well.
Of course it helps to have some division of work within the membership base but ultimately their main job is to fight for the corp. This may seem rather simplistic but in my experience it seems that to be a big player in 0.0 you have to be prepared to fight for your place there and having cut and dried divisions between non-PvPers and PvPers leads to lots of dead wood members and can lead to resentment and ultimately a rift within your corp.
Other than that I guess the conventional approach to growing would be to start out in empire, grow to maybe 20-30 members then move out to a 0.0 alliance where you can grow further. I think to become a major player you have to be selective, be aggressive and be brutal - 0.0 life doesn't tend to respect the rights of the weak. Oh, and don't expect anything to happen fast; if you put the effort in and make the right choices you can probably make an effective corp within 6 months and a major corp by most standards within a year but it won't be easy.
Good luck. ----------- When I was a n00b, I spake as a n00b, I understood as a n00b, I thought as a n00b: but when I became pr0, I put away n00bish things. |

Zeveroth, as per the rules of the CAOD forum, i am required to lock this post as you do not have your corp/alliance ticker showing. I will however allow you some time in which to activate this feature so this post can remain open. If you can go to your forum settings and tick the show corp and alliance ticker, i won't have to close this thread. Also, please review the rules for this particular part of the forum as they differ from other boards.
Thank you for your co-operation.

Glad this thread wasn't locked.
In 0.0 there should be absolutely zero room for non pvp characters.
Those that call themselves industrial and don't really like that side of the game can still perform the essential role of tackler, jammer, webber.
If they can mine in a barge in 0.5 systems and either kill/attack the rats or are capable of holding their own in level 4 agent missions, they have most of the skills required to participate in 0.0 fleet ops when required.
This game isn't one in which a character needs to fit into a cookie cutter shape. I was in 0.0 with under 11M skill points and while it took me a little longer than most to kill the 1M+ rats, I still had the shield tanking ability to eventually take them out.
The possible only exception to my personal thinking is the freighter pilot. A dedicated well trained freighter pilot can be a corps greatest asset, even without experienced pvpers, as long as he's got a scout and possibly a webber who will through him out to warp quicker you can shift so much gear and bring stuff back it will stagger the mind. If he's busy doing that (with escort) he could be excused for not jumping in an ecm cruiser or something.
Secondly make grand claims because achieving the impossible no matter how long it takes will make you seem bigger and better to outsiders, if you care about that sort of thing. Life is about memories the more the better. Looking for CCP to improve availability of their GTC's, for non card carriers! |

Edited by: ACHURA CALDARIAN on 18/05/2007 13:56:36 Altough many says democracy in corp and alliances to live in 0,0 :
1-) A CEO with great leadership in social skills (not in game skills ) and have the respect from his members to dictate any order 2-)Clever directors ( FCs , Diplomats , Industrial base operator etc, Recruiters ) 3-)Dedicated Members : must have core members who dedicate theirself to corparation and co operation . Its hard to have more skilled player at the beginning so an academy or teaching the new comers how to pvp or any other duty you and they got agreed to do . To do this : i.You and your core members can recruit base skilled players and teach them ii. open an academy for them and have really dedicated members who is volunteer to teach them to survive and fight in 0,0 4-)Have some of the BS BC bpos and ammo bpos that you will need to build up your stuff when you move to 0,0 5-)Set some goals in a period of time like in 6 months we will have all our stuff that we will need in 0,0 base and xxx amount of PVP er etc 6-)Work hard 7-)Work much more
Edit : PS : If you and your friends start the corp to have isk as first goal forget all about first goal must be having fun with PVP then PVP again PVP and then other Stuffs if not you will have skills but you will see that you have the money stuff t2 ships and etc but cannot get enough fun of the game because your skills are not dedicated to pvp and you somewhat return a carebear then you will find yourelf trying to fix your character after a year with the right way of Skills for PVP ing

Look at alliances which fit with your outlook and goals- and work on getting your corp into a shape which would make you attractive to them. This almnost inevitably means pvp skills- so some little wars, or 0.0 incursions would be a very good idea.
I agree with what is said above about pvpers in 00. The succesful 0.0 corps and alliances tend to have a very significant core of pvpers. Those pvpers often have developed some basic indsutry skills as well, perhaps on alts. The key is that pvpers can live without carebears because they can always rat and mine (though perhaps not in Hulks!) but carebears who arent pvpers in 0.0 tend to get ganked a lot and bullied.
Jabjabv is absolutely right in warning of the rifts that can occur in a corp if there are seperate dedicated carebears. Everyone needs to be able to pitch into combat when needed- and effectively rather than being a liability to the fleet. ---------------------- The Tumaril: "Pies are different" |

Hi Zeveroth, I recently decided to do much the same thing as yourself. I used to be in a pretty big 0.0 alliance, which was fun and fantastic learning experience but I grew tired of the incredible lag that comes from large fleet engagements.
If it helps here is my plan:
1) base out of NPC station 1-2 jumps from 0.0 space initially(I picked Providence). This lets you avoid being camped into your station, easy access to empire tradehubs while you stockpile stuff you need to be self sufficient.
2) Make friends with likeminded alliance in the neighboring 0.0. This may take awhile, but I've found most alliances are very welcoming to new corps who plan on helping them defend their space.
3) Build a blueprint stockpile. I just dropped around 30 mill to acquire all common t1 module/frig/some cruiser/ammo bp's. Now I am mining a bit and can keep the corp hangar stocked full of free modules/ships for new members.
4) Finally, organize small pvp ops and mining ops so people start to have fun together :) My group is mostly old friends, but may open it up to others once we are established.
5) Move your HQ/office into 0.0 now that you are self sufficient.
So far I can tell you it feels great to be on our own. Also do not listen to people who say you need tons of skillpoints to live in 0.0 I have less than 7m skillpoints on each of my chars, and I started living in 0.0 from Day 1. If you can't kill rats solo you just get 2-3 people to help, that is what a corp is about.

Lot of work ahead,
I have worked my butt off for over a year and only just now can we call ourselves a successful 0.0 solo PVP corp.
You will need help of alliances as to get a committed member base, get the neccessary PVP skills and experience and also get the neccessary access you need friends and more importantly respect.
Great Lowsec corp = 6 months (roughly 15 actives i would say) Great 0.0 PVP corp = Minimum of 1 year (lucky if you have 25 actives by then)
