Events on MMO's are over-rated. Ppl flock to 'em, lag the servers to heck, things don't go as planned, and everyone ends up grumpier than if nothing happened. Oh, and then there's all the whining from those that missed it. This is true of all the MMO's, not just Eve. Which is why many of them don't want to touch the subject of running events.
I think Eve's approach is pretty reasonable. Nothing too huge, and try to mix them up and kick 'em off in a variety of ways so that you don't end up with the same players every time.

Events are not overrated, they should still TRY. Why have i played over 100 $ in monthly bills to eve to pretty much do the same thing over and over? For all you "IF you don't like it quit" *******s You all just shut the f up and kiss my ass ok. I will continue to complain until theres freakin events man. Events man, god damn EVENTS. There were events in beta and they were fun as sh it!

No, he¦s just asking for events, simular to those CCP has had before, done by GameMasters.
Perhaps you need to take you brain out of your corn hole and stop flaming peaple for the sole reason that they play the role of a pirate, wich by the way is practicly the life line of this game, and if you dont get it the read threads about how piracy is linked to the rest of the game.
Perhaps then you will find out that you would have quit the game long time ago if it was all peaceful in the game and no danger from other players that dont have war with your corp.

There are some events where I use to play a game and the events were randomized mini un game plot related (If thats a line).
I remeber when one of the staff for this game decided to get their ship and beat the crap out of it and then drift in a remote area and send some people tells asking for assistance and to bring a repair laser to fix their ship. Reward involved of course and the people who were contacts told some friends and they got a group together and rescued the GM who was roleplaying the damaged Senators ship.
Little did they know that the GM also had another GM online who told some pirate(PvPers)that their was a rare item in a ship in "Blah" area and to go find it.
The outcome was, good guys got their first, fixed damaged ship, and then went home, bad guys got their way too late (Heheh I laughed at that) and then decided to hunt the good guys down for the rest of the day trying to get the rare item.
Moral of the story -- GMs or Polaris can do anything that is small and involve small groups without frecking up the server load and get people involved into a plot that doesnt affect the main story and has people having fun.
If they did something like this once a week you would have a nice some what happy community as something random would be happening somewhere and people would hear about it.
This is just my 2c that I wish was in EVE. Also I wish we had repair lasers and drones so we could DO THIS in EVE.

True small events are good and worthy and when they happen it most likely makes the peaple involved very happy.
It could be an event every day for all I know and that peaple have some sort of an aggremant not to mentioning them on the forums, perhaps scared that other players think they have gotten some very good and rare item, or that they dont talk about it in the hope they can monopoly the events.
But we are probably about 20-35 thousand players/accounts in EVE atm, and few small events involving 10-20 players just doesnt cut it in the eyes of many peaple who wish to be active with the story line or something.
I once took part of an event that was announced on trade channel, it had hauler jobs for few peaple(actually for all those who came with an indy), combined with that it had an escort for those haulers, (probably since pirates were told about those haulers passing through with items that were needed to get back), also it had a kill mission that consisted of a rouge pilot(polaris/GM) that had cheated on the manager(polaris) that needed our help to kill the pilot.
I took part in that event since I had been mining for my corp 2 months straight and needed some time out, I couldnt kill the rouge pilot but I had a hell of a time with 2 friends chasing him.
I have been playing since 10 days after EVE came out I think and I used to play alot of hours (7-12) everyday and been fairly active around the galaxy with this character and my alts but only once have I seen an event, that does not include events that were held in stain or yulai, they were made semi public on the forums.
Doesnt really bother me much since I make my own fun in the game but for others it is probably a must to be entertained from time to time.
Thus I think those taking parts in events should perhaps post about them in a role playing manner and describe it and tell about it for others to know that they might be next to get something special.

I think the events will come, but they wont be announced, its something we will notice happening, and gather friends to come watch it happening... god know what it would be, but it would be freaking fun if yulai decided to go boom boom in a supernova... :)

Tank is not a pirate, and m0o is not either. The term you are looking for is "GRIEFER".
JIP camping, and pking all that spawn, without a chance to pay a 'toll'. Pking noobs, pilots in shuttles, pods being blown up, ya real profit in that, makes a lot of sense to do it, ruin the game for others then whine about having nothing left to do huh.....
Ban the griefers, let the real pirates and their corps continue, and Eve will be better off. (noob players will stop quiting when noobs are able to enjoy the game again, so get rid of the griefers)

Events like this are happening all the time, your just too busy with one aspect of the game (shooting all you can) to see them. Also there are only a small proportion of people going to be involved in them, its a case of right place at the right time.
Just because you dont see them doesnt mean they are not there.

Maybe Tank means events which grow out of the *blah blah* some of us read.
You know the stuff where great empires are arguing over food items, or where high ranking people from an empire disappear into fragments.
The sort of thing that you might think could have an impact on the game.
Maybe the Blood Raiders could make a bit more effort to take over a system or two rather than just hang about the belts and be ganked endlessly by a miner with a couple of drones.

My comment has nothing to do with him being a pirate, and everything to do with him calling peeps carebears whenever they suggest something that is not to his personal tastes. Reciprocation is great :)
