Edited by: Tricia Tanaka on 17/05/2007 20:41:25 Huh... I thought nanos were nerfed, but it looks like the nanocurse and nanodrake have made a comeback, hmm?
Well, I may as well stop shunning the uber, and get on the bandwagon.
How fast can a curse go? Rigs are required I guess - what's the optimal combo of rigs and lows? I'm guessing 2 damps and a tracking disruptor? Mixture of Hammer IIs and Hobgob IIs?
Do you need snakes to make it go? Is this a rich-guy-only toy, or can it be managed with just tech 2 (and no snakes)?
/me hopes for a Ryysa (sp?) post... she's who got me thinking about going for a nanocurse.

Edited by: Alliandre Breton on 17/05/2007 21:52:40 high nos... med: mwd im cheep so im using t2, 3*damps 1*lseT2 1*24+ sram low: mix overdriveT2 and local I stabs.
rigs poly carbon housing*2 drones either 5valks or hammer, and 5 warriors
i think mine goes around 3,2-3,4m/s only t2 no faction or snake implants..

Nanocurse still works better than a tanking curse, by far. 3 damps and nanos/overdrives

4x Nos 1x Neut ------ 1x MWD 1x Warp Disruptor 3x Phased Muon Damps 1x LSE ------ 2x Overdrive 2x LH istab ------ 1x Polycarbon Engine Housing 1x Ancillary Current Router (PG rig, good luck fitting this otherwise. Someone suggested a PDU but it still doesn't give enough energy.)
Still gives 3km/s plus with no implants.
With LG snake without omega, gives almost 4km/s.
Basically means that you dictate the range with almost anything that would want to dictate the range, and the smaller stuff that can catch you is pretty much boned anyways.
Even something like a Vagabond then might be able to catch you with it's MWD but you'll nos the heck out of it and be able to break off because of your nos range and amount zapping it's cap.
What you need to worry about is the Mini Recons.

tbh i rather leave a high slot empty or use a small nos/neut and max my speed than fit a pg grid for just one more med nos/neut.

minmatar drones because of their speed 2 polys, 2 overdrives, 2 istabs or 2 nanos, 2 aux thrusters, 1 istab, 1 overdrive depending on your wallet (t2 or local hull is necessary)
t2 or domi mwd depending on your wallet
fly in a speed gang with speed bonuses/gang links
full nos in high, 2 LSE 2 damps or 1 LSE 3 damps ------------------- NFF Recruitment

I am not playing WoW ...
Anyway, here are some setups with increasing pricetag. All work, the more expensive ones work better.
Cheap setup: 3x med nos, 1x neut, 1x recon launcher t2 mwd, t2 disruptor, 3x phased muon damps, lse II 2x t2 nano, 1x istab, 1x co-pro 2x speed increase rigs.
More expensive: 3x med nos, 1x neut, 1x launcher t2 mwd, t2 disruptor, 3x phased muon damps, lse II 2x t2 overdrive, 1x istab, 1x co-pro 2x mass reduction rigs (50m each)
From here also Implants: zor's hyperlink, cy-1,my-1, gy-1
Good setup: 3x med nos, 1x neut, recon launcher shadow serp mwd, true sansha warp disruptor, 3x phased muon damps, lse II 2x t2 overdrive, 1x istab, 1x co-pro 2x mass reduction rigs
What I fly: 3x diminishing nos, 1x neut, recon launcher domination disruptor, domination mwd, 3x phased muon damps, lse II 2x t2 overdrive, 1x istab, 1x co-pro 2x mass reduction rigs
Additional implants: LG snakes.
Basically... the entry-level setup will be fairly cheap, the third setup in combination with implants will get you close to 4km/s... The next obvious step is full faction gear + snakes, but unless you are VERY VERY confident with speedfitted ships or have a rather large sized wallet, I'd advise against it. Nano from nanofibre, a hull mod that reduces the ships mass and therefore makes it go faster, quicker.
Essentially the nanocurse (as with all nano'ships') relies upon its ability to dictate range and keep clear of the opponents weapons. Couple that with sensor dampners (which reduce your targets range) and nos/neut - the curse gets bonuses to these - (which reduce his cap) and you can orbit a target with relative impunity while your drones finish him off.
The curse has been given a noticeable nerf under the proposed 'nos nerf', but having tested it on sisi it still works, well kinda.
