Hello peeps o/
Have just got around to sorting out some R&D agents for myself [finally!]
I noticed that two of my lvl4 R&D agents from the same NPC corp had radically different RP/Day. Looking at 'your research' under the agents info tab, one agent [laser physics] has 'Research Field Bonus 2xRP/Day' whilst the other [rocket science] doesn't which obviously accounts for the big difference in their respective RP/Day.
They're both high quality lvl4's in the same NPC corp so i assume it has nothing to do with NPC or faction standings. I have the skill related to the relevant research that i'm doing trained to lvl4 on both.
So where did this research field bonus come from? I have never noticed it before now. How do i get it for my other agent?
Any help is mucho appreciated

The multiplier has to do with what field you are researching. There is no way to get a multiplier for a new agent. So for instance, Laser Physics has a bonus because other fields outside of laser physics and get offered BPO's from Laser Physics fields. So a bonus is given to people who research only Laser Physics, so they have a higher chance of winning than someone in another field.
So basically, the bonus depends on the field of research, and nothing else.

the field moifer does not make a difference on how much datacores you get per week because if you get 3* modifier on a field the datacores cost 3* as much too!

Ok you lost me
Let's say I have 4x agents in Gallente starship engineering ( a 3* modifier) field btw, average RP's gained 230-290.
If I add a 5th agent, in let's say, mechanical engineering (a 1*) field, does that affect in any way the RP per day or a BONUS I never noticed before on my 4x Gallente starship engineering agents above ?
Am I therefore better to keep to One (1) field of study only, and get a bonus (if that is what it is...) than diversifying
If that is so, that sucks, because I will have gimped myself badly when I added that 5th agent, not knowing I was blowing away a (hidden) bonus
let me know Thx again xali

each agent is treated in isolation
the fact that you have 4 other agents when you add the fifth does not matter

It makes/made sense for the lottery. All ship bpo's could be obtained from from one starship skill as well as one non starship skill. Now only very few ship bpo's were seeded as opposed to module bpc's, so to make the whole thing a bit more fair for those researching starship, they got x3 the numbers of "lottery tickets" in comparison to the non starship skill people. Thus 3/4 of the ship bpo's on avarage were giving out to startship researchers.
Now once the lottery ends this will just be a funny legacy thing that has no effect on the game due to datacore purchase prices also beeing modified by the same ammount.

Now fellows, this is one thing I have never gotten. If everyone gets 3x the number of lottery tickets, you have exactly the same chance of winning. The probability just divides out. Am I missing something?

Either you did not understand my post, or you didn't read it.
Ship BPO's can be won by both one starship skill (such as gallente startship engeneering) and one none-starship skill (such as mechanical engeneering).
Trick is the the people doing the starship skill gets x3 the number of tickets, thus 3/4 of the BPO's goes to people researching the starship skill and 1/4 to the people doing the one-starship skill. Get it?

Ah, I see. I did not realize that the same blueprints were issued in two fields. Makes a whole lot more sense now, your last statement was much more clear.
