I am Einier, spokesman of the Reidmar clan. I come before you, the select few and elite of the pod pilots of New Eden, to extend an invitation. On the 16th day of this Month, our clan leader passed away after battling long and hard with a terminal illness. The respected Anfinn had ushered in a new era for our clan, recently succeeding in a decade long plan to relocate our whole people to the Gallente Federation as well as finance pod pilot training for those fortunate enough to pass the selection processes.
His passing now leaves it upon us to select a new leader of our clan with the traditional clan rite known as the FenÆdha. I invite all in the area to attend and witness.
The FenÆdha is a fight to the death between those that contest the position of clan leader, ensuring that only the strongest leads us. For the first time in our clanÆs history, we will hold this ritual in space. This first in our history seems most appropriate, in honour of Anfinn and the new era he has left in his wake.
The FenÆdha will take place above Gallareue VIII. I look forwards to seeing many of you there. ----------- - Einier of the Reidmar Clan |

I am sorry for not releasing a time and date for the ritual yet. We are still currently making preparations which cannot be rushed. Until all is done we do not know how long this will take. However it will be very soon. Once we are able to hold the Fen'dha we will inform people in the area and invite them to attend if they wish. ----------- - Einier of the Reidmar Clan |

Good day Einier, I have been attempting communication with you this last couple of days but sadly you have not responded to my messages. So let me introduce myself. I am Evaner d'Souj of the Federal Administration and I work within the ranks of the local District Parliament your clan has settled within.
I have been appointed by my superiors under the Local Commission for Inter-Pod Pilot Affairs to engage in talks with your clan regarding your advertised ritual. Yourself, and your fellow clan members, have been brought to our attention by local citizens who are somewhat concerned over what you plan to do.
We respect the customs of many races and their desires to fulfill them. However, in this case the prospect of two men fighting to the death is, with respect, somewhat unattractive. We do not intend to stand in the way of your clan selecting a new leader, I wish to make that clear. However we would prefer alternative methods, and I myself am willing to engage in talks with yourself as official spokesman for your clan to help you explore such methods that would be mutually agreeable to the both of us.
Please, as soon as you find the time, reply to my previous NeoCom transmissions. I look forwards to hearing from you.

While I personally find this custom of the Reidmar clan old-fashioned and slightly distasteful, I cannot help but ask what exactly is if the business of the Federation administration to interfere in the customs of a clan? It is not like they are harming innocent passers-by, let alone Gallente citizens.

Edited by: Ikasu on 22/05/2007 20:10:54 Her pod pilots license must be fairly fresh, for her pilots license portrait to still be a !. Or maybe she's just new to the forums. None the less, I wonder about her legitimacy. Though far be it from me to accuse her of anything. I have to agree with the above two posters, however, as I see no need to interfear in this. ------------------------------------------------- Attention Devs, for every isk you send me one member of your family will be returned safely.

I am obliged to add that it has been pointed out to me that I missed in the original posting the fact that this duel is happening in the Federation space. I consider it barbaric for a government to meddle in the business of clans, but I understand the Federation has different customs, and that in their space their rules apply.

Edited by: Einier on 23/05/2007 09:33:24 Mr dÆSouj, my apologies but I have no intention of engaging in such talks aimed at changing the age old traditions of our people. We have a right to conduct our internal business as we see fit. I would have thought that the Gallente, of all people, with all manners of excess and indulgence interlaced within your society, would be more open minded than to presume to change that which they do not simply understand. Or that which they wish not to see because it does not sit well with the personal opinions of a handful of petition signers.
I respect that not everyone will be comfortable with seeing a man die, and to those people I say; you do not have to attend.
It is not clear to me in your transmission here or over the NeoCom in the past if you fully understand the concept of the FenÆdha. You seem to assume that the ritual of combat is born of spiteful or malicious feelings between the two men. You would be wrong. The FenÆdha is born of a desire for the betterment of our clan, allowing the strongest of us to lead the clan. I know the respected Anfinn would wish for nothing less than a strong leader to take his place, as he took the place of another over sixty years ago in the same manner.
I have known the two combatants, Mekch and VoÆshir, for all of their lives. There is no doubt that they not only understand this fully, but that they share a deep mutual respect for each other. There is no hate between them. You cannot treat this like a diplomatic incident, as I am sure you are used to dealing with in your career. There is no misunderstanding to clear up between the two and no hands to bring together in a gesture of new friendship.

Einier,
I would encourage you and your clan to move this event to inside tribal space, to avoid misunderstandings with the Gallente.

Dear CCP,
Once again, it seems that several of your employees have been up to no good. We'll get into the details a little later, but the highlights are quite juicy: CCP employees abusing their roles to join player corporations and give themselves director access, RP-events being rigged and what I really thought we were over, further fraternization between your employees and members of BoB and the subsequent cover-up. These latter two events actually stem from the same source, a former ISD member.
Let us begin with CCP Sharkbait joining the corporation "DarkStar 1" and giving himself director access. This was not preceded by a customer service request that would in any shape, way or form require a CCP employee to join the corporation. Less then one minute after joining the corporation, he added the role "Director" to himself, roughly fourteen minutes later, he leaves the corporation and surrenders the role.

Upon learning of this, corporate officers from DarkStar 1 immediately filed a petition in an effort to discover the reasons for this. This petition was promptly deleted and CCP Sharkbait would not respond to in-game conversations.
Why would a CCP Employee ever join a corporation without being asked to do so or any prior communication indicating that this would take place?
Why was the petition filed by officials from DarkStar 1 deleted with no response or reason?

News Release
Quote: "Naturally many of the local Gallente citizens were distraught over the prospect of such an event taking place over their heads."
The subsequent talks with the clan bore fruit as they acquiesced to the desires of the local parliament and agreed not to conduct the lethal Fen'dha ritual, opting instead to "begin a new era of democratic leadership selection" according to d'Souj. "I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the Reidmar clan for their patience and understanding in these matters, and wish them well in their new dawn" added d'Souj, in closing.
The powers of persuasion of the Gallente Local Commission for Inter-Pod Pilot Affairs is great indeed. I stand in awe of Evaner d'Souj, who singlehandedly made a Vherokior clan change old traditions. Other motivations may be at work, and the fact I consider us Vherokior more flexible than other Minmatar tribes, I am still a bit suprised.
If it truly will go to a democratic selection will their be any public event of this or will the clan go about business on its own?
By the way, just because the ritual was to be held in space does not automatically assume capsuleer technology and with it the benefits of cloning. I am guessing the finality of the event was the point and bringing it to space would not compromise that. To the death means, to the death. Some post humanists loose sight of the planet bound brethern and the mortality they are still tethered by.

I find it to be a shame that yet another fine and ancient Matari tradition is cast aside in the name of Gallente liberalism. It is your clan though Brothers and yours to nurture as you see fit.
In my clan we have a different but no less ancient tradition. Head hunting. More precisely the scalps and skulls. While I am sure there are many who have found adequate leadership through the ballot box perhaps the elders of the Reidmar clan would consider an alternative new rite of ascension.
Send Mekch and Vo’shir into the heart of the Amarr Empire to collect the heads of our blood enemies. Whoever slays the most without injury proves himself the stronger not only in combat but in tactics and cunning. Certainly qualities worthy of a leader.
Of course the benefit of fighting to the death is that there is no bitter rival to taint the new reign. Perhaps exile would be a more constructive option? It would leave the defeated, yet no doubt capable, warrior free to raise a new clan.

Well, for some poeple freedom means "the freedom to impose my will upon others". The people fail to understand the true meaning of the word. You live freedom, you breathe freedom, you do not write poems about it or use it as propaganda.

While the duel to the death does not bother me so much, considering they are both pod pilots and have clones, the thought of having moved your entire tribe from the Republic does bother me. In this turbulent point in our history it is a time for reunification, not migration. Come back home and help reinforce our Republic against the wolves at our borders.
Though the Republic may not be perfect it is our Republic and we have the freedom to help mold it into greatness. We must stop our infighting and wandering and stop thinking of clan this or that. Instead we must be Clan Minmatar and center ourselves in the Republic. Only when all clans unite as Minmatar can we truly stand strong and proud as a major power in the cosmos. Only then can we achieve our dream of recovering our enslaved breatherin and take our place as a people of greatness.
