Pandoras Mining Covanant (did I spell it wrong, I mean right?) [PMCO] has decided after over two years as a corporation in the EvE Universe to shut down.
What now seems like ages ago PMCO was founded by Lonagan (Lon), who while drunk one day/night decided to spin up a new corporation. As with many things done while drunk a lot of thought went into the creation of the corp. Well, what can we say... drunk thought doesn't always have a spell checker and thus PMCO ended up with a name that isn't spelled quite correclty... but meh... that's not a big deal!
Lonagan was a great founder and CEO. He was often seen in local starting convos with people and asking them to join his corp. Many of the long time PMCO members joined PMCO within days of starting the game. Many of us still laugh about the fact that we were such newbs that NO ONE in their right mind would have taken us in... But Lon took in the group and helped us as a corp grow and develop.
A short while after forming his corp Lon embarked on another venture. One of the corpies knew Talidorn of The Army of Helaman [A.O.H] was considering a move to get connected with a more active player base. So, the two corps merged and suddenly the Mining corp was able to offer a rather good industrial arm. There was actually something to do with all those minerals. Profits began to grow and the corpies were all growing and developing. The introduction of mining barges helped the corp grow from a bunch of carrier/BS miners into full fledged miners.
Then a dark day hit the corp... Our first empire war! Oh noes! A group by the name of Dr. Evil's Assassins [ZIPIT] nearly killed the corp. The war was difficult, if not impossible for a bunch of people that were not ready for such a fight. After the war PMCO began a renewed effort to grow and mine. The corp mining ops were tremendous! Empire belts cried on our arrival. We would regularly strip entire systems. We were miners!
Well as things go, we began to look at other options within the realms of EvE and a new opportunity came to the front. Lon had begun to work on getting us into the FREGE alliance. This was at the time that FREGE was in Pure Blind trying to make a home there. For those of you who have been around for a bit, bodycollector was running the show then. Just as we joined FREGE, Lon had a bad case of the RL... So, Talidorn was placed in the role as CEO.
FREGE was PMCO's first attempt at being in an alliance. Runnig in fleet ops with FREGE was interesting. We were there during the war with Pilots with Honor [POH] (not 100% sure on the ticker sorry guys). After an extended war PMCO was again in a place where it needed to rebuild.
Off we went... this time to low sec. We had a bit of training and understanding on how to deal with gankers and ****ers. But oh noes..... Talidorn suddenly caught the RL disease and he set Lon back as CEO and went dark for a few months (nearly 6).
Crocket took over when Lonagan and Talidorn went RL. He saved the corp and kept things going. Thank God for Corp votes to take the role of CEO!
Bam! At nearly the same time Lonagan and Talidorn recovered from RL and were back in the game. Neither of them really wanted to be in charge so the corp changed to a board of Directors. This proved to be a great move. PMCO began to expand and grow. As individuals were identified as a great benefit they were promoted. The diretor list grew and some of those individuals include (but aren't limited to) Crocket, Lonagan, Talidorn, SigmaPi, TenthReality, Morkhan, DarkArc, Guuci, and a number of others. The directors group grew and matured within the corp and within EvE. |

But that is jumping a bit to the end too quickly! After Lon and Tali came back Tali was really wanting to help the corp grow by moving it out to 0.0. So, opening the list of Alliances Tali picked one that he thought was kewl and had 0.0 access. Which alliance did he pick??? NORAD! Tho now dead many within PMCO hold a special place in their hearts for NORAD. It was where most of us got changed from pure carebears to a 0.0 industrial machine. Note, I don't say that we quite mining... oh no, we mined... and most of us had wallets that proved we were 0.0 miners/industrialist. There are many from NORAD that will tell you that PMCO was a great addition to NORAD. We were helping keep the war machine going. Megathron anyone? Alliance pricing!!!
NORAD was a good run. We had some great fights, and even watched the killboards fill with goonmails. BoB liked to come in and make sure we weren't getting too comfy. Then something strange happened... the goons moved to Cloud Ring to take a shot at owning a region... Those were the days of Remedial... Need I say more? Long and short NORAD was taking two fronts, helping FA in fountain at times and helping/watching as D2 was dealing with Goons in Cloud Ring. At about this time, what many in PMCO and NORAD consider our darkest hour, NORAD began finalizing a grand scheme to merge with FA and form a stronger/better alliance. This is the Birth of RISE. Sadly, the merger was less of a merger than it should have been... RISE was given a plum of an opportunity... D2 offered Cloud Ring to RISE.
RISE was not mature enough as an alliance to hold onto such an offering. And shortly after claiming it YouWhat -Y- came in for a fight. They had friends and after a bit of a fight the initial win went to RISE. PMCO and orther NORAD corps were disgusted with the way things were going so many went our seperate ways. Yakuza and a few formed the R0nin. PMCO went back to low sec empire. I will leave the remainder of the RISE, -Y-, CR, OR issues out of this story...as PMCO wasn't involved in such activities. LOW SEC EMPIRE!
So, we were out of the fray, we spent time in low sec empire mining again and trying to decide where to go and what to do. We ran a refundable lottery for a while and enjoyed that a lot. We had gotten into Capital manufacturing and we were having fun auctioning the ships we were making off to a lucky ticket purchaser. Most of us missed alliance life! After about 3 months in low sec empire (and a quick war on a griefing empire corp - we didn't like how it felt when we were small, so we were being the police and protecting the little guy) we applied and joined POS... JUST AS EVEWAR 1.0 was breaking out! Somewhere in here we lost our Founder... Lon decided he REALLY liked PVP and went over to RAZOR. PVP operations in delve to bother BoB & friends went well and we enjoyed the friends we had in POS... But once again... we needed to recover and rebuild. War is hell on the wallet.
We went out to a nice quiet area close to our old NORAD stomping grounds and had a good run... We even considered and had plans in place to setup an alliance. R0nin was close and we had other really good friends around... But meh!!! The board of directors were getting a bit tired of running things (it is almost like having a second job).
So this bring us to today... We, the directors of PMCO are going to close the doors on PMCO. It has been a wild ride! We have made friends on all sides of the map. We may not be one of the best known corporations in EvE, but we are known! As we leave we thank all of our corpies and the work and dedication they have had. We thank them for the trust they placed in us and for the place that they helped make in the history books of EvE!
I and a few of my mates will be heading out now to join up with our new bosses... It is a great new adventure... We get to be minions again! Sir YES Sir!
Fly safe and thanks for the run!

To everyone with kind words, thank you, its nice to know that at least for a little bit we made a difference.

Walter? You mean the guy with a fascination with corpses, and would go belt to belt and station to station picking up goon corpses, all the while saying on teamspeak in a very scary voice "Corppssessss, corpssssesss!"

Edited by: Morkhan on 21/05/2007 22:22:35 I joined PMCO on my fourth day playing Eve. I was at once overwhelmed and impressed by the willingness of PMCO members and directors to take newer players (read: noobs) under their virtual wings. With encouragement and LOTS of support, many of us went from empire noobs afraid to travel into 0.3 to hardened 0.0 combat veterans. We moved from making cruisers to carriers; from a single POS in Amoen to supporting outposts; and from ninja mining in a navitas to stripping entire asteroid belts in an evening.
Even though we have gone our separate ways, many of us still talk regularly on our channel PMCO-Public. Join us to pay your respects. Its better than a slap on the face.
/me salutes PMCO

Arf, an amazing corporation closes its doors. You were an amazing people to fly with. Model NORAD members, you showed us all. You were an amazing industrial PvP corporation. I remember NORAD told its members to look at PMCO for how a corp was ment to fight. An industrial corporation that wasn't afraid of fighting. You will be missed!!

PMCO was great help in NORAD.As a sponsor who helped/judged PMCO as new NOrad member, i must say i consider helping PMCO settle and recruiting them in the whole as one of my most succesful things i have done for NORAD.
I still remmber when at first poeple were afraid you would be carebears cause of your name and me and Ban Tier mostly argumenting to let you in:).I also remmber helpign tottaly green members getting into first pvp gangs:)
In short after a while PMCO turned not only an industrial backbone for the allaince but also great pvpers....
Good luck in future hope to keep runing into past pmco poeple:).

PMCO was all i knew from a corp for the first year plus in EvE. As Mork already said, we grew from obscurity to being part of the backbone of two succesfull alliances before going our seperate ways.
I still remember that pos in Amoen... ah, life was simple then. I also remember when we had 3 deathstars claiming sov in XZH... not so fun =P
A fond adue to all of my amazing mates from the corp. Miss Pandora did leave out a very special time in our corps history. About the time that NORAD merged with the former FA, the corp Hopless Endevor merged into the ranks of PMCO. Some of my best friends were orriginally part of HE, and now most of them have gone their own ways again. I salute all of my ex corpmates. We maynot be united in name any more, but we are still united in the blood, sweat, and tears we have all shed for the growth and prosperity of PMCO.
May PMCO rest in peace, she was the most fond corp I have ever had, and will ever have.
/me salutes.
