super character now on Chaos: is 213 skills, 189,056,000 skill points
good lord!! , and i thought my 100 or so skills was good.
from the dev chat. it's good to know specialization will come into play soon, but just knowing the fact of how many skills points that is......
gonna be an old man by the time that's trained.... ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

Assuming a minimum of one million skill points per month, you should be there in about fifteen years.
There are 10 sorts of people in the world - those who understand binary, and those who do not. |

What is the maximum number of skills that a single player can obtain?
Are there skills that are race/class-specific?

Soon to be 213 You can train them all, but it's gonna take a helluva long time, so no one is gonna do it.

as the others said, you can train them all but with the higher ranks 8+? Pilots will really have to specialise. so you wont be able to build all the Tech3 ships. example: if you want to build Tech3 Gallente Battleships, you will need the specific skills for that I imagine, so by the time we reach tech5, everyone will have their own special place in eve, as one of the super old CSM's said, tech1 is for everyone, so its just gonna get harder, and you will need specific skills to build specific types of items.

Specialisation is already taking place. I think I may have 50k in weapons skill the rest (about 2.3 mill) in drones and mining/refining.
The nice thing is now that I have maxed my learning and can use all the implants, learning weapons will take about half the time as it did everyone else :P

First of all, assuming some of those skills are the new science skills, no one will ever use all of them. Even with 5 research agents, you'll only need 5 out of the 20 or so. Secondly, once higher quality implants and boosters are in, people might start gainging skill points at 2-3 million a month |

Doubt it will ever get to the 2-3 million per month mark soon, don't forget the higher your stats the less impact an increase in those stats will have. From memory the next level of implant will add 4, tech level after that 5 etc. If you have a stat of 10 an additional 4 points will make a big difference, if you have a stat of 16 won't be nearly as big.

I hope to hell they DO rely on perception and willpower :-) I'm one of these people who created their character without a full understanding believing those two attributes would be the most important for a combat character, would be nice if they justified my decision!
Well, we shall soon see I hope :-)
